Decorate your home in patriotic colors and symbols.
Flag It.
You're proud to be an American, so show your pride by loading up on American flags to wave during the parade of countries. You can pick them up in bulk at sites like Oriental Trading.com. Plop a bunch into a tall bucket and invite guests to take one as they arrive.
Must-Have Gear.
Olympic accessories will be everywhere. Ask your guests to come dressed in their "sportiest" look and provide them with an Olympic pin or hat to wear.
Posters.
Hang a few posters depicting your favorite winter Olympic sports. The official Olympic Store web site has plenty to choose from!

If you're planning for a sit down invite guests to a potluck asking them to bring a dish representing a different country participating in the Olympics. However, if snacks are what you're after, it's time to get creative.
Trail Mix: Athletes need energy and so do their fans! Pick up a few bags of Planter's Milk Chocolate Trail Mix, which is spiked with yummy chocolate colored candies to represent the Olympic rings.
Popcorn: For a yummy twist, lay out a "toppings" bar. Include shakers full of paprika, parmesan cheese, cinnamon or try Colin Cowie's assortment of toppings for HSN.
All Greek: Tohonor Greece, the founders of the Olympics, lay out yummy traditionalsnacks like olives, almonds, feta cheese, hummus and pitas.
Beer Tasting: Stock up on classic American and Canadian beer favorites.
Junior Athlete's Cocktail: For the kids, whip up a special "drink" just for them. Try Gatorade mixed with seltzer.

Kids love making crafts and cheering on their favorite athletes. Why not combine the two?
Preparation
- Tissue Paper Pom Poms
Layer lots of red, white and blue tissue paper into a rectangular stack. Roll the stack and measure in about 3 inches and cinch with a rubber band.
Then, use a scissor to cut slits into the remainder of the rectangle, up to the rubber band. Glue the handle into the inside of a toilet paper tube (paint or cover it in star stickers). Make two for each child.
Easy Olympic Medals
Flatten a gold metallic cupcake liner so that the outside of the liner faces out. Add a number one sticker to the center. Then, cut a piece of grosgrain ribbon long enough for your child to wear as a necklace. Staple the two loose ends of the ribbon to the inside of the flattened liner and you're done!
