Awesome 80's Theme Party

• The key to 80s party success is getting your friends and family excited about playing into the theme.

• Make sure the invitations convey the theme and let party goers know that they are expected to come dressed (and coiffed!) in their 80s finest.

• You can even hit up your local thrift store and buy a few prop items to give to guests who fail to fulfill the dress code.

• A teased- hair wig, bright pink scrunchie or faded jean vest will do just the trick. Word to the wise: Make sure you go all-out as well so no one feels silly in their gear!

Add extra oomph to your fab 80's beverages with brightly colored bendy straws and cheesy garnishes, like plastic animals and flashing ice cubes.

Make your party a walk down memory lane, and make it special!

• Celebrate the lively vocabulary of the 80s by sprinkling your party with quotes, phrases and definition-style terms described on foam core boards.

• Extra points if the foam core boards are in various shades of neon colors.

Try as you might, you cannot forget the hideously loud colors that characterized the 80s.

For your party, embrace them in any way you can. Try:

• Neon Tablecloths

• Neon Paper plates, napkins and utensils
• Bright green and yellow flowers
• Or, opt for 80's cool: black and white, with lots of graphics

1. Buy scrapbooking or decal sticker individual alphabet sheets and spell out what you want to write, letter by letter. This works well if you want to display white letter quotes on a black board.

2. Buy neon sheets of paper and simply print the quotes out large on your computer. Then, affix the paper to foam core board or cardboard for sturdiness.

3. If you don't want to decorate with 80s phrases, consider peppering them into other parts of your party: label the food "Bodacious Burgers", "Wicked Wine" and "Gnarly Nachos."
