Speaking of unwinding, being the cocktail therapists we are, we advocate getting as creative as the writers you're discussing: forego the Chardonnay for the following delicious cocktails, perfect for any genre of book (or booze) lover! So, invite your girlfriends over to discuss books and drink up!

If you're reading a classic, you can do no better than imbibing in the spirit of Ernest Hemingway himself! Light rum, cherry and grapefruit make this drink light, sweet and tangy.

Ingredients
- 1.5 Oz light rum
- 1/4 Oz maraschino liqueur
- 3/4 Oz lime juice
- 1/4 Oz grapefruit juice
Steps
- Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Pour the entire mixture into a chilled cocktail glass.

Opting for Chick Lit? Eschew the standard Cosmopolitan (Sex and the City, anyone?) for a classic Metropolitan. Brandy and sweet vermouth are mixed with simple syrup and bitters in this classy cocktail.
Ingredients
- 1.5 Oz Brandy
- 1 Oz Sweet Vermouth
- a Splash Simple Syrup
- 2 Dashes Angostura bitters
Steps
- Pour the brandy, sweet vermouth, simple syrup and bitters into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and shake well. Strain into a chilled martini glass.

Non-fiction is the furthest from dullsville with this favorite from "Gonzo Journalist" Hunter S. Thompson. Whiskey and Bailey's give this cocktail a kick.
Ingredients
- 2 Oz Bailey's Irish Cream
- A Dash of Chivas Regal
Steps
- Pour the Bailey’s into a small rocks glass and top with the Chivas regal. Optional: chill both liquors before serving.Cheers!
