Heart-Stopping DIY Valentine's Cocktail Party For the Girls

Bottle of Vodka: $20, Martini Glasses: $65, Mixers: $8. Night in with girlfriends who always see the glass half full...Priceless.

There are some things that money can't buy, and these days who can afford to spend it. As they say, when life hands you lemons...pass the salt. And any recessionista worth hers knows that it doesn't take a lot to have a great time. Especially when it comes to your BFF's.

This Valentine's Day forgo the plastic, round up your posse and chase those recession blues away with a heart-stopping D.I.Y. cocktail party. Because when the bottom drops out, what else can you do but say...Bottom's up!

Bubbly Hostess: Serve Champagne Favors
Treat your B.F.F.'s to a sparkling champagne reception.

Don't have the money to drop on a vintage bottle of champagne?

No worries! Set out a tray of Sofia minis (cute little soda cans of champagne) to greet your guests when they walk in. The adorable cans of champagne even include a straw, so you can just pop and enjoy!

Valentine's Day Party Favors for the Girls
Here's an easy idea that will have your guests smiling (especially after all that candy)!
  • Fill a clear plastic bag with a travel sized tooth brush, toothpaste, and a Crest White Strip
  • Add a personal love note wishing them many kisses in the year to come
  • Tie with a pink or red ribbon

Heart Stopping DIY Valentine's Day Tips
Invitations:
Invites are elementary when you break out the construction paper, glitter, doilies and glue for retro invitations that are as fun to make as they are to give.

Drinks:

It might be blustery and cold outside, but nothing warms the heart like a caliente cocktail. So, grab a shaker and your B.F.F.s and concoct a round of D.I.Y. drinks that prove you don't need a man to heat things up!

Food:

Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what girls are made of. So rather than go for broke and splurge on a gourmet menu, just do desserts. Think cupcakes, candy and cookies.

Decor:

A little kitch goes a long way. Go with a retro red, white and pink theme.

Games:

If it's just you and the girls, spin the bottle will have to wait. But Dream-Phone, M.A.S.H. and, after a few cocktails, truth or dare are all fair game.
