Ever dreamed about going on "Safari?"
Chances are your kids have searched for "big game" in the backyard on a sunny afternoon when their imaginations have transported them to the Sahara!

Safari Invitations Online
- Upload a safari or animal photo to the Celebrations Online Invitations page and fill in your party info.
- After you create and send the invitations, an RSVP event page is created like this Safari Birthday page I made using a silly giraffe photo.
- You can manage the RSVP event page by going to your Celebrations profile and clicking on "Events" in the left column.
- Then hit the "View Event Details" button and you're there!
- For those who want to send invitations in the mail, Birthday in a Box has cute, colorful animal invites.
- I also customized a pink zebra invitation just for the fun of it and the moveable zebra below is actually a DIY printable paper craft from Canon online.

Safari Cupcakes
An adorable idea from Wilton, safari animal cake toppers are each on their own little green grass and chocolate frosted cupcake. Click here for instructions.
Cupcake Tower with Animal Candles
Here's a treat! This cake decorating video from Wilton teaches how to make leafy grass frosting on cupcakes topped with safari or jungle animal candles. You'll also see a great idea for decorating Rice Crispy treats as a birthday cake.

Create a desert landscape for your party using animal prints and Safari items.
- For a desert color scheme decorate with black tablecloths and animal print party supplies like plates, cups, and napkins.
- Buy animal print scrapbook paper from a craft store to use as placemats or down load and print your own animal patterns from Activity Village.
- Make a table centerpiece or two out of animal print helium balloons and Mylar lion and zebra balloons weighted down with stuffed safari animals.
- Max out the animal print theme with party favors like retro sunglasses, wild slap bracelets, and the classic straw pith hat.
- For younger kids, check out this Safari Party Kit with everything you'll need like adorable animal invites, matching plates, napkins and cups, sticker activity books, a lion piñata and more.

Movable Paper Animals
- Animal paper craft patterns, such as the moving elephant and zebra, are downloadable at Canon online.
- Visit their website to see a variety of printable paper crafts and determine which styles are appropriate for the birthday child's age group.
- Some of the crafts have many pieces to assemble, which would definitely be for ages 5 and up.
- After you download the patterns, print and cut them out.
- Put one together as an example for the kids to make themselves.
- Or make some animals on your own and decorate the tabletop with them.
Make Animal Masks
Animal mask crafts come in all shapes and sizes, from mask coloring kits to making paper plates and recyclable items into a wild disguise.
- For young kids, keep the craft simple with a "color-your-own" mask kit.
- Another idea is to give the kids safe, clean recyclable items along with common craft supplies, and watch them create amazing masks! Here's a website with a fun pig mask to use as an example.
Suggested Materials for Recyclable Item Animal Masks:
- Assorted colors of craft paint
- Artist brushes
- Masking tape
- White glue
- White paper plates (mask base)
- Plastic bottle caps (pig noses)
- Plastic 6-pack can holders
- Empty Cereal Boxes
- Cardboard paper towel cylinders
- Yarn (hair)
- Craft felt and scrap materials
- Construction paper
- Markers & crayons
- Kid scissors

Safari Scavenger Hunt
Purchase a bunch of small plastic safari animals or inexpensive party favor packs, like animal squirts and paddle ball games, and hide them around the yard or party space for the kids to find.
Guess The Animal Footprint
Print out safari animal tracks and have the kids guess the animal that made the footprint.
Simon Says Be A Giraffe
Kids today love "Simon Says" as much as they did 50 years ago. Play the game using safari animals, such as "Simon Says be an elephant!"
Animal Face Paint
Face painting at a safari party is almost mandatory. Ask an artistic parent to head up this activity and paint the kids as lions, tigers, and other safari favorites.
Safari Animal Pinata
Lest we forget the piñata! Some themes are tough to create as a piñata (i.e. princesses and superheroes), but most animal piñatas look great and really add to the décor. I really like this zebra and lion pinata.
Animal Activity Table
An activity table is always a good idea, especially for younger kids who may need to ease into a party. Set up items like coloring pages, crayons, even animal puzzles to keep the kids entertained.
