This casual idea transforms any store-bought bouquet into a pretty, rustic display just by using items you might already have.

You'll need the following supplies:

  • Table runner or cut a piece of fabric long enough to fit down the center of your table.
  • Assorted tin cans in various sizes (bulk coffee cans, tomato cans, soup cans, etc.)
  • Burlap (look for colored burlap in orange, yellow or green for added pop)
  • Twine
  • Scissors
  • Colored Raffia or decorative fall ribbon
  • Fall floral bouquet
  • Steps
    • Place a can on top of the burlap.

    • Measure and cut a square of the burlap large enough so when gathered up, it will cover the can.

    • Place the can back on the burlap square and gather it up and cinch at the neck. Tie it off with a piece of twine.

    • Cover the twine with raffia or decorative fall ribbon tied into a bow.

    • Fill the can with water and insert fall flower bouquet.

    • For a dynamic presentation, make several of these in varying heights and group in threes down your table runner.

    Lil' Pumpkins
For a centerpiece alternative, try this fresh idea. Create personal flower arrangements for each of your guests using mini pumpkins (commonly known as Jack-Be-Littles).

    Steps
    • Supplies:

One mini pumpkin per guest (each should be 3" wide x 2" high)

      Utility knife

      Melon baller or tablespoon

Fall-colored flowers such as Dahlia or Gerbera daisies

      Real or faux maple leaves

      Instructions:

Use a utility knife to cut off the pumpkin's stem. Then, use a melon baller or tablespoon to scoop out a small hole about 2 inches deep.

Group three to four flowers in a bunch and trim the stems to about 2 inches. When placed inside the pumpkin, just the heads should be visible.

Fill the pumpkins with a few teaspoons of water and insert the flowers.

Place one large or two smaller maple leaves near each place setting and put the mini pumpkin on top.

If you're looking for a quick, modern centerpiece to throw together in minutes, this one's for you!

    Supplies:

    • One shallow glass or decorative bowl, approximately 10" - 12" wide
    • Five Gerbera daisies in fall colors
    • Two or three tealights

    Steps
    • Fill the bowl about three quarters of the way with water.

    • Pinch the heads off of the daisies and float them in the water.

    • Add tealights for ambiance.

The key to this creative display is to tightly cluster the flowers.

    Supplies:

    Steps
    • Use a bread knife to trim the bottom of the foam sphere so it sits steadily on the cake stand.

    • Soak the sphere in water for 30 minutes. Then place it back onto the cake stand.

    • Clip flower stems to about 2 or 3 inches and insert into the sphere until it's covered.

    • To embellish, place fallen leaves around the cake stand base and top off with a few clipped flower heads.
