 Twilight Themed Birthday Party

If the name Edward Cullen, Bella Swan or Jacob Black sets your Twilight obsessed heart aflutter, celebrate your birthday in style with an elaborate Twilight-themed fete. Sink your teeth into our Forks-tastic ideas on how to turn a ho-hum birthday celebration into an unforgettable, authentic Twilight event that Alice would be proud to call her own.

Twilight Birthday Party Music
To get your birthday party going, make sure to play the official Twilight movie soundtrack. Add in a few more Muse songs, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus' Guardian Angel and you're good to go.

During the party, keep the Twilight movie DVD playing onscreen in the background. Keep the sound on low or muted so it doesn't distract from the rest of the party. When things begin winding down, start it again and have a late night movie fest to ooh and ahh over Edward's drool-worthy features (or Jacob's features, for Team Jacob fans).

Twilight Birthday Party Beverages
For your Twilight birthday party, beverages are a must. After all, the Cullens only drink, not eat!

Must Have Twilight Party Drinks:

  • Apple Beer: This nonalcoholic beer comes in a bottle adorned with black label and red apple front and center - just like the first book in the Twilight series.
  • Red non-alcoholic punch: Simply pour Hawaiian red soda into a large punch bowl and float ice and apples in the bowl - it's perfect for the underage or designated drivers who still want to partake in the Twilight birthday revelry.

Twilight Birthday Party Cupcakes
Though none of the characters in Twilight were particularly skilled in the baking department, these easy-to-make cupcakes echo the theme perfectly and are super delicious to boot. The hardest part will be resisting their temptation all evening.

How To Decorate the Cupcakes:

Step 1:  Create regular red velvet cupcakes with a standard white cream cheese frosting. Bake the cupcakes in black or red cupcake wrappers.

Step 2. Purchase a small bottle of white or translucent luster powder to cover the frosting with. This will give the white cupcake frosting an irresistible ‘dazzle', just like Edward himself.

Step 3. Top each Twilight birthday cupcake with a mini red crab apple to pull together the temptation theme.

Step 4. Alternately, dip a pair of fake gag teeth into corn syrup dyed with red food coloring. Then, gently press the top teeth down against one side of the cupcake to mimic a vampire bite.

Step 5. If you'd like, wrap a red ribbon a la Eclipse around the base or edge of a cupcake stand, and place the cupcakes on top for a gorgeous dessert table centerpiece.

The Twilight book covers offer great party decor inspiration. From the red, black and white color scheme to the dramatic symbols, incorporating the Twilight book covers into your birthday is a cinch with these tips:

Red Apples

Red apples are practically synonymous with the Twilight series, precisely why their presence is de rigueur at a Twilight themed birthday bash. Integrate the red apples into your birthday party by:

  • Fill tall hurricane vases with red apples for a dramatic statement
  • For a birthday dinner party, print out name cards using the Twilight font (Zephr, see download details in the Party Favor section of this article) and pin them to a red apple at their place setting
  • Fill a bowl with red apples as a centerpiece for your food table, dessert table or cocktail table

Blood

Blood obviously plays a large part in the Twilight series. Whether Bella is inadvertently slicing her hand open on glass or the Cullens are feeding on animal blood, the life force of all living things has a central role in the novels.

  • Create a piece de resistance for your birthday party by adding oil-based red food dye to a white chocolate fountain. The chocolate will run red, creating a phantasmagorical fountain of faux blood. Set aside a plate full of sliced red apples for guests to indulge in their inner Cullen.
  • Make your own "Bella Blood Type" packets with Red Twizzlers (note: her actual blood type is unknown, so go with whichever blood type you prefer). Fill a cellophane bag with red Twizzlers licorice and label the bags "A Positive", "Type O", "Type B", etc. to mimic blood bags that Carlisle stocked up on for Bella in Breaking Dawn

Chess Pieces

The cover of Breaking Dawn features the white queen and the red pawn, powerful symbolism that parallels with the novel. Incorporate chess pieces into the Twilight birthday party décor to represent the final book in Stephenie Meyer's series:

  • Either create your own chocolate chess pieces with candy molds, or buy a regular chess set and use the pieces as a centerpiece. Elevate the chess pieces high on a cake platter, or send birthday guests home with chocolate chess pieces as a favor.
  • Rent or buy a giant chessboard, and use the oversized white queen as a table centerpiece. You can also paint the white pawn red and create a life-sized setup that mimics the cover of Breaking Dawn.

Framed Twilight Quotes

Download the Twilight Quotes PDF courtesy of Hostess Blog and frame them for the party. Place them around the food, on a fireplace mantle, and as a centerpiece to remind guests of your favorite parts in the book and movie.

Foggy Forks

Create a murky, foggy and authentic Forks, Washington atmosphere for your Twilight birthday party by renting a small fog machine for the evening. To save on cost, you can also purchase dry ice and place it in multiple containers around the party area to create a foggy appearance throughout the party.

New Moon Parrot Tulips

The cover of New Moon features a gorgeous red and white parrot tulip flower. Though the exact parrot tulip shown on the cover is only available from early through late Spring, red and white flowers make gorgeous birthday centerpieces that Alice would definitely approve of.

  • In a nod to her arrangement of Roses for Bella's birthday party, arrange roses in a big crystal vase as a main table centerpiece for guests to enjoy.
  • You can even create a mixture of corn syrup and red food dye to run around the edge of the vase's opening. Apply liberally until a few rivulets of faux blood run down the side of the vase - just make sure Jasper isn't around.

Using images of the movie poster, create DIY bookmarks with Bella and Edward, along with favorite quotes from the book and the movie. Here's how:

Step 1. Download the Zephyr font.

Step 2. Using the font, write out your favorite quotes from the book over images of the book covers or movie posters. Make sure the images fit on a narrow bookmark, which may require cropping. This is best accomplished in a program like Adobe Photoshop, but can also be done in Powerpoint or Word.

Step 3. Print out the bookmarks onto thick cardstock paper and cut each one out individually. You can also cover the back of the bookmark in white glitter as a nod to Edward's sparkling alabaster skin.

Step 4. Holepunch a hole at the center top of the bookmark and loop a thick satin red ribbon (like the one on the cover of Eclipse) through the hole.

Step 5. Paint a line of clear nail polish over the ends of the ribbon to make sure they don't fray over time, and allow to dry.
