Chalkboard, Books & Doodles Graduation Party

One thing we love seeing is a party that walks the fine line between modern, yet vintage. Add in a whole lot of creative DIY ideas and we just don't know what to do!

These graduation party ideas came together after we got hold of Pear Tree Greeting's Doodles Graduation Ensemble. The classic color combination, chalky writing and personalized photo space made for the perfect jumping off point for planning a laid back, yet classic graduation party for our grad.

We opted to host our party in the backyard and wanted to make sure guests got the message.

As you'll see throughout, our dominant party theme colors were our chalkboard gray and white. To add some personalized and festive flair to the space, we also incorporated our grad's favorite red and turqouise color scheme.

Having such fun themed graduation invitations to build off of made planning and personalizing this party so easy since it provided direction with creative inspiration.

We found a fabulous heart-shaped metal chalkboard and hung it on the garden gate with the grad's picture and a special greeting.

A few sprigs of flowers and some curling ribbon tied to the chalkboard gave it a special party look and tied in our red and turquoise party colors.

You could make a similar decoration with a small chalkboard purchased from the craft store. Decorate it with your party colors and hang with a ribbon to greet your party guests.

Our table centerpieces were clever, easy to make, and inexpensive.

Inspired by the chalkboard graphics on Pear Tree's graduation invitation, we gathered some small metal buckets, painted them with chalkboard paint and then filled them with paper flowers that we made from the pages of an old book. Congratulatory messages were written in white chalk on each of the buckets.

Graduation Party Table Decor

Who doesn't love to doodle? Our tables were covered with floral tablecloths and then topped with a large piece of butcher paper.

We placed some jumbo crayons at the center of the tables and our guests, of all ages, had a blast doodling on the white paper. The grad's table was devoted to well wishes and memorable notes from guests.

Extra pages from our old book were perfect for wrapping the party favors.  We tied each favor with curling ribbon in turquoise or red and placed them on the table in a metal lunchbox.

A box of sidewalk chalk was all it took to get some fun games going outside.  The kids started it with some hopscotch and tic-tac-toe, and before we knew it,  the grown-ups were joining right in with some Sidewalk Scrabble.

Red and turquoise linens, dishes and accents in lots of fun and playful patterns highlighted the strawberry shortcake bar our grad requested and beckoned the guests to come over and make a scrumptious, custom strawberry shortcake to their liking.
