Holiday festivities are even sweeter when a tray of cupcakes is on the party table!


Bake up your favorite cupcake recipe and then decorate them as reindeers, snowflakes, gingerbread men or any one of these tasty ideas.


Display red and green cupcakes in the shape of a Christmas tree or on a whimsical multi-tiered stand for a simply merry Christmas celebration.

Incredible Edible Ornaments

It doesn't get much better than candy on cupcakes.

This cute idea from the new book Kids in the Holiday Kitchen has an incredibly easy way to make cupcakes look like Christmas ornaments.

Also, in the book are recipes for these cupcakes and instructions for Marshmallow Snowmen, Ice Cream Treewitches and more to inspire kids of all ages to get into the kitchen and get creative!


Steps
  • Ice cupcakes with red or white frosting.

  • Place a mini peanut butter cup candy upside down on top of the cupcake.

  • Break off the rounded parts of pretzels so they resemble ornament hooks and insert them through the peanut butter cups down into the cupcakes as shown in the photo.


Gingerbread Man Cupcakes

Host a gingerbread house decorating party and serve gingerbread man cupcakes for the kids to enjoy!

You can embellish on this idea from Wilton by using sliced gumdrops or colorful mini candies around the rim of the cupcake.

Steps
  • Ice cupcakes with milk chocolate frosting.

  • Use pink and white icing to make the face.


Christmas Tree Cupcakes

Here's a super simple way to turn cupcakes into a Christmas tree display!

Steps
  • Tint bowls of white frosting green, yellow, blue and whatever color you like using food coloring.

  • Ice most of the cupcakes green for the tree and the other cupcakes different colors to make gifts under the tree.

  • Ice 2 cupcakes with chocolate frosting to make a tree trunk.

  • Form the green cupcakes into the shape of a Christmas tree Form the green cupcakes into the shape of a Christmas tree Form the green cupcakes into the shape of a Christmas tree and use the chocolate-iced cupcakes as the tree's trunk. Fill in at the bottom of the tree with different colored cupcakes as gifts.

  • Decorate the top of the cupcakes with seasonal sprinkles, candy and decorator icing to make gift bows.


Snowflake Fondant Cupcakes

For those who've chosen a winter theme for their holiday party, these Snowflake Fondant Cupcakes will add an elegant touch to your dessert display.

Steps
  • Lightly ice cupcakes using white frosting.

  • Purchase prepared white fondant.

  • Reserve 1/3 of the fondant to make snowflakes.

  • Tint 2/3 of the fondant light blue by kneading icing color into the fondant until it is fully incorporated.

  • Roll out blue fondant on a work surface that has been lightly dusted with cornstarch and cut out large snowflake shapes with decorative edges.

  • Drape blue snowflakes over cupcakes as in the photo.

  • Roll out white fondant on a work surface that has been lightly dusted with cornstarch and create snowflakes using a knife, mini cookie cutter, or a snowflake plunger cutter.

  • Lightly moisten the back of snowflakes with water and apply to the blue fondant draped over the cupcakes.


Rollicking Reindeers

Reindeers are a playful symbol of the holiday season. This idea for reindeer cupcakes from Wilton's Cupcake Fun website uses broken pretzels for the reindeer's antlers .
