Pick the Perfect Tree Farm
Oh, Christmas Tree!
 Oh, Christmas Tree!
If you live in the suburbs or the city, it will take a little bit of research to find the perfect Christmas Tree Farm. One great online resource is Pick Your Own Christmas Tree.

Through the site, you can search Christmas tree farms by state and city, and read reviews and details on whether the farm is a tree lot, cut your own, or one where you choose and they cut.

For maximum Christmas tree cutting fun, choose a farm that offers other activities like sleigh or hay rides. Some even have petting zoos with reindeer on site so you can trade Donner and Dancer some carrots for a good word with Santa.

Rise and Shine
Wake the family up early with the tantalizing aroma of fresh off the griddle pancakes and bacon. The best method of operation when it comes to Christmas tree cutting is to get to the lot early. This leaves the rest of your day open for setting the tree up and, best of all, ready to decorate.

Pack a Lunch
If you live in a dense city, the closest Christmas Tree farms are likely a good drive away. If the farm you choose offers activities, plan on being at the farm for two to three hours. Once you factor in the drive home, it will be well after lunchtime when you return.
To stave off hunger pangs:

  • Pack a picnic basket with everyone’s favorite sandwich, chips and soft drink.

  • French baguettes work well since they are thick enough that they can sit a few hours and not get soggy from the tomatoes.

  • If you can, buy old fashioned glass Coke bottles for soft

drinks - around Christmas time they usually have themed bottles with

    Santa on them.

  • Don’t forget to include a tasty treat for dessert - try fudge, toffee, peppermint bark, and other yuletide favorites.

  • Also, pack plenty of blankets for warmth!

Afternoon Festivities
Once your Christmas tree is safely at home, keep the Christmas spirit high with tree decorating, caroling and cookie baking.
