Halloween was made for kids and we love the idea of throwing a pre-Trick-or-Treat Halloween party complete with costume contest and fun food for both them and their parents.
Don't look for sugary treats at this party though, as that is left for the trick or treaters to fill their bags with. Instead, we're serving a Halloween meal that's as fun to look at as it is to eat and all inspired by one super cute Halloween invitation that will get the kids and their parents pumped!
Kids costume parties have been a staple of Halloween for decades. We sent out the adorable Mummy Wrap costume party invitations from Pear Tree Greetings to help inspire a supper gathering before the kids head out to fill their bags with Halloween treats.
Our party concept was a family-friendy fete with a Monster Mash theme. We held the costume party on Halloween night before the kids headed out for some trick-or-treating fun.

Since there are many different characters at a costume party we wanted to incorporate an eclectic design concept to reflect that. We used bright colors and themed party ware to decorate with, but our food choices came directly from the mummy motif on our invitation from Pear Tree Greetings.
We chose to serve a hearty supper menu so the kids would be fueled for their trick or treating afterwards. Check out all 3 of our easy Mummy treats below!
And we think the costume contest is a great addition to the evening complete with DIY prize winning ribbons!
