Don't forget to check out our Ultimate Father's
Day Gift Guide for personal gift ideas.
A Day of Sports
If your dad loves watching
his favorite team, then surprise him with tickets to the real thing!
He'll love nothing more than spending the day with you and getting
to watch the game! Check out Craigslist
or StubHub for great last-minute deals.
Is your dad a...
- Golfer? Schedule 18 holes at his favorite course
- Horse racing fanatic? Take a day trip to a nearby track and bet on the ponies.
- Doer, not a watcher? Head to a local park and play hoops, kick the soccer ball or throw around a pigskin while bonding.
At-Home Sports Day
Can't make the game? Dad
will enjoy watching it at home with you just as much.
Décor & Ambiance:
For an at-home sports extravaganza, go all-out with food, decorations and ambiance. Tack up home team paraphernalia on the walls and don your jerseys. Buy official team logo paper plates and napkins, and blast the team's song on the stereo just before the game starts.
Food and Drink:
Grill up some tasty burgers and hot dogs, fill bowls with peanuts and make fresh lemonade. Don't forget to stock the fridge with Dad's favorite beer! Let him know that he doesn't have to lift a finger (or miss a moment) of the game. Cater to his every whim and bring out the food and beer. He'll relish every second.
A Day of Gourmet Indulgence
If your dad is all about food, he will be thrilled with this idea. The night before Father's Day, present him with a card that promises him a "Father's Day full of feasting." You can either keep the menu a surprise or print out a mini-menu to insert into the card. Either way, he'll be eagerly anticipating the coming day!
While some dads love a great home-cooked meal, others prefer to wine and dine at their favorite restaurants. Consider which plan best suits your dad's tastes.
Get to his heart through his stomach!
Start his Father's Day off right with a big, delicious breakfast.
Either make reservations at his favorite brunch place or do it yourself.
- Grill up his favorite sausage.
- Make an out-of-this-world three egg omelette.
- Complete the meal with a short stack of pancakes.
- Don't forget to serve his favorite juice to wash it all down.
- Bonus points if you serve this as breakfast in bed!
Lunch:
Depending on how big of a breakfast you plan, you may be able to skip lunch altogether. If breakfast was served early, opt for a light lunch. Visit a gourmet pizzeria with super thin, crispy crust that won't be too filling. Pair the meal with a delicious side salad and Dad's favorite beer for a sure-fire success.
Dinner Out:
Most dads absolutely love steak. Round up the family and take Dad out for a night on the town at his favorite steakhouse. Make sure to order his favorite cocktail and dessert as well!
Dinner In:
If you're cooking this meal at home, visit a local meat market and purchase top-grade beef guaranteed to melt in your mouth. Or, order Omaha Steaks online two weeks ahead of time and defrost the night before.
Keep the Steak Preparation
simple so the quality and flavor of the meat shines through. Finish
the meal off with a Molten Chocolate
Cake and a side of vanilla bean ice cream. Dad will think he's in
heaven!
