As the saying goes, the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach -- especially on Father's Day!

This year, get the kids involved in creating an amazing meal for Dad. For your cooking convenience, we've rounded up a list of delicious recipes with easy prep that the kids will love.

Chocolate Chip / Blueberry Flax Pancake Meal
A heart healthy and heart warming breafast.
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups dry pancake mix

  • 1/2 Cup flax seed meal

  • 1 Cup skim milk

  • 2 eggs  

  • 1 Cup fresh or thawed frozen blueberries or 1

  • For Berry Compote: 1 1/2 cups frozen mixed berries

Steps
  • Set a nonstick skillet over medium heat.

  • In a medium bowl, stir together the pancake mix and flax seed meal. In a separate bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the milk and eggs. Pour the liquid into the dry ingredients, and stir just until moistened.

  • Spoon 1/4 cupfuls of batter onto the hot skillet. Sprinkle with as many blueberries (or chocolate chips) as desired. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface, then flip and cook until browned on the other side.

  • . To make your pancakes Father's Day ready, use the chips or berries to spell out “Dad” on the top pancake in the stack.

  • Put the frozen berries in a microwave-safe bowl and cook on high for two minutes. After one minute, put the maple syrup in another bowl in the microwave to heat it up as well. Serve alongside the pancakes.

Double Cheddar Cheeseburger Meal
Prepare a hearty, restaurant-worthy burger at home.
Ingredients
  • 2 pounds freshly ground chuck

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper  

  • 8 slices white Cheddar, sliced 1/4-inch thick  

  • 8 slices yellow Cheddar, sliced 1/4-inch thick  

  • 8 perfect hamburger buns  

  • Horseradish Mustard (see below)  

  • 8 leaves Romaine Lettuce  

  • Grilled Vidalia Onions (see below)  

  • Dill pickles, sliced  

  • Ketchup  

Steps
  • Preheat grill or a cast iron skillet to high.

  • Divide the beef into 8 (4-ounce) burgers. Season on both sides with salt and pepper, to taste.

  • . Grill or cook in the skillet for 3 to 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness. During last minutes of cooking add 2 slices of cheese to each burger, cover grill and let melt, approximately 1 minute.

  • Place burger on bun and top with Horseradish Mustard, lettuce, Grilled Vidalia Onions, pickles and ketchup.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 Cup Dijon mustard

  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, drained

Steps
  • Whisk mustard and horseradish together in a small bowl.



Grilled Vidalia Onions
Grilled onions are the perfect savory topping for cheeseburgers on Father's Day.
Ingredients
  • 2 Vidalia onions, sliced crosswise, 1/4-inch thick slices  

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper  

Steps
  • Brush olive oil on both sides of the onions and season with salt and pepper. Grill the onion slices for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Strawberry Milkshake
A classic strawberry milkshake that will make you reminisce.
Ingredients
  • 4 cups strawberries, hulled

  • 2 cups ice cubes

  • 2 cups milk

  • 4 cups strawberry ice cream

  • 2 teaspoons white sugar

Steps
  • In a blender, combine strawberries, ice, milk, ice cream and sugar. Blend until smooth.

Chances are, Dad might be spending the day watching a big sports game on TV. Serve him a classic homemade cheeseburger and fries so he can enjoy the game to its fullest.
