Everyone loves a good beach party!

Don't know if it's a boy or a girl? No worries- you can still throw a stylish baby shower.

Planning a baby shower is much simpler when you know if it's a boy or a girl. When you don't, coming up with good themes and colors is a bit harder.

Instead of simply decorating the venue in light green and yellow, throw

an upbeat Beach Party-themed shower bursting with vibrant hues with

very easy steps.

Choosing a Location
The best venue for a beach party is, of course, the beach; but public beaches can be crowded, dirty and a tough enviromnent to create an intimate party.

To skip the crowds and unnecessary pre-party clean-up, try to improvise with other options.

Rent a Beach House

The next best option is a beach house. If you don’t know anyone

close to the mother to be who owns one, you can always rent one out for

the afternoon.

Having the party in a house as opposed to a restaurant gives you the

flexibility to take your time and relax, as well as the option to

decorate however you’d like.

Use a Venue on the Water

You can  throw the shower at a restaurant overlooking the beach or

pier. As long as you have water in view, it’s a great setting for a

Beach-themed fete.

Food & Drinks

"Sand"wiches

Create a platter of sandwiches on mini croissants and label them "Sand"wiches as a reminder of the beachy theme.

Serve summertime favorites like crab meat sandwiches and lobster rolls with hand cut french fries to add to the ambiance.

Drinks

Serve the shower guests delicious cocktails like margaritas, daiquiris

and pina coladas. Sangria is a great pick for a shower cocktail.

For more great cocktail tips, be sure to watch our Signature Cocktails video.

For non-alcoholic beverages, have plenty of old fashioned glass Coke bottles as well as lemonade and iced tea in tall pitchers.

Presentation is key -- set the Coke bottles in a large beach-pail or cooler filled with ice.

Dessert

Sandcastle Bundt Cake

The perfect cake for a beach-themed shower is a sandcastle cake. You

can buy the mold at most baking and cake decorating stores, or on eBay for $32.

Beach-Themed Cookies

You can either serve this bundt cake as the main dessert or arrange it

in the center of a dessert table filled with beach-themed cookies and

cupcakes.

Choose cookies decorated to look like beach balls, starfish, waves,

shells and fish. Then provide small boxes for guests to take these home

as favors.

Now you have all the tips you need to create a beautiful beach baby shower for any gender this summer.

Bright Colors

Pick a summery, bright color palette and buy or make your decorations

following the palette. A good combination of colors to try:

  • yellow
  • orange
  • red (or peach)
  • white

These gender neutrals are loud enough to make a statement but the

colors are analogous (next to each other) on the color palette, making

it easy to coordinate and mix & match.

Creating a Beach Scene

  • If possible, hang paper lanterns around the room for a beachy vibe.

  • If you’re having a sit-down meal, lanterns look great hung in a line over the middle of the table.

  • For budget décor, buy colorful tissue paper in bulk and create dramatic Tissue Paper Pom Poms to hang around the roo in lieu of lanterns. They still look great hung over the tables.

Table Décor

Infuse the bash with beach-themed items to pull the outdoors in for the shower.

  • Lay down tablecloths
  • Spread sand down the middle of a table
  • Place seashells, seahorses and starfish in the sand.
Set a floral arrangement in a plastic beach pail. You can use pails in

different sizes; a large one for the centerpiece and smaller ones to

flank it on either side.

Check out our instructional video on creating centerpieces for handy tips.

Place cards

Create pretty place cards that keep with the theme by writing the guest’s names on sand dollars.

You can even glue a thick, brightly colored ribbon to the back of the

sand dollar and use it to tie a bow around the napkin holder and anchor

the sand dollar on top.
