A winter storm is settling in. And as the snow drifts rise, so does the anticipation of holing up by the fire for a few days.

But flurries do not have to spell cabin fever. When bad winter weather strikes, "go with the snow!" If you're not one that's bounding for the slopes celebrate a wintry weekend in with an informal fete together. Here are a few ways to have a snow ball.

When it comes time to seek shelter from the cold, you want an indoor space that's every bit as invigorating as the outside. If you're not one of the few who reside in a rustic wood cabin in Vermont or atop the slopes on Aspen, fake it by turning your home into a modern-day ski lodge.

When the sun goes dow, add warmth to the room with the sensual glow of candlelight. Burn pine-scented candles like John Galliano's signature candle for Diptyque or Archipelago's 3-piece Black Forest set comprised of a blend of Douglas fir, ebony wood and a subtle hint of black currant.
