Hawaiian Luau Theme Party

Hawaiian luau parties are a laid back, easy way to entertain regardless of season - if the summer sun isn't blazing down, simply move the party inside.

The versatile Hawaiian theme party is also a popular birthday party theme for all ages. And why not? Who can turn down the allure of tropical punch, a menu infused with Hawaiian flavor and some island party fun?

Though you can always throw an authentic Hawaiian luau party complete with glowing tiki torches, luau dancers and a roasted pig, it's also just as fun to opt for a more modern approach when planning your luau.

We hosted a luau themed celebration recently and sent our guests the Hibiscus Fun invite from Pear Tree Greetings. Everyone knew to expect Hawaiian flair at the party, not cheesy island decor.

The classy party invitation's color scheme lent itself so well to our planning efforts as well. The entire table had a cohesive look to it, with pops of bright pink and orange.

In addition, we played up the tropical floral motif by incorporating appropriate foliage into the design.

By adding island embellishments - like a metal fish decoration, handmade paper leis and fish netting to our table, we were able to keep this party looking fresh and sophisticated.

The menu features fish, a healthier and just as tasty menu option over pork, paired with a refreshing lemony salad. For dessert she grilled up some poundcake, topped with grilled pineapple, vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. (YUM.)

And to help make guests feel like they actually took a trip to the tropics Patti chose to work with a more modern gray, pink and orange color scheme.
