Mad Scientist Bar Shopping List

A mad scientist themed bar for your Halloween party needn't be a challenge to make. Here's a quick list of easy-to-find party supplies that will make it a cinch to pull together.

Lab Table – use a rectangular counter height bar with industrial look and feel or drape a dining table with layered gauze.

Lab Equipment – replace pitchers and squirt bottles with beakers and glass jars.

Frozen Specimens – Freeze faux body parts and plastic tubing in blocks of ice to pour drinks through to give them a real chill!

Hollywood-style special effectsgelatin covers for drinks that look like skin, dry ice and/or smoke machines create a spooky mood, battery operated lights give containers an ominous glow.

Goolish Garnishes – replace standard garnishes with gross-out alternatives (ie onion eyeballs and finger sticks).

Secret Potions – mystery mixtures of juices and mixers squirted into drinks by guests from squeeze bottles.

Creepy Concoctions mix up cocktails like Bloody Cherry Punch, Black Widow Martinis and Wine of the Dead.

"Finger" Foods – Zombie Fingers, Worm Salad, Eyeball Soup, Brain Cheese.

Decorating Your Mad Scientist Bar

Shots (the kind you drink!) in tubes, brain food (you can really eat) and creepy concoctions in colanders are all fun and innovative ways to give your bar that spooky lab look for less.

Remember to include dry ice if you can! It's a great way to add the eerie touch we're so used to seeing in mad scientist horror movies!

Freeze faux body parts (like the brain seen here) and plastic tubing in blocks of ice to pour drinks through to give them a real chill! This is easily achieved using a mold you can find in your baking or crafting supply store.

Skip the boring shot glass and serve your guests their concoctions in plastic needles or thin tube beakers!

Replace standard garnishes with gross-out alternatives (ie onion eyeballs and finger sticks). Check out our list of Halloween cocktails for some fun recipes.

You can serve the usual cocktails, but we recommend giving your cocktails a Halloween twist. Two of our favorite signature drinksto try? Like the Alien Secretion and Bloody Mary.

Another final tip: remove the labels from your bottles and replace with fun potion names. Totally fun and festive!
