This is a fun twist on the traditional mint julep and makes enough for a crowd (serves 8)!
Note: Drink mixute should chill at least 2 hours before serving, but is best when mixture chills overnight.
Ingredients
- 1 Quart freshly squeezed tangerine juice
- The juice of six limes
- 1 Cup of superfine sugar
- 3/4 Cup fresh mint leaves chopped
- 2 Cup(s) of club soda
- 16 Oz of Bourbon
- 8 sprigs of mint
Directions
- Combine the tangerine juice, lime juice, sugar and chopped mint and stir until the sugar is combined.
- Chill for at least two hours, but it's even better if you can chill overnight (the juice will become infused with the flavor of the mint).
- Fill eight highball glasses with crushed ice.
- Pour 2 oz. of Bourbon into each glass then fill almost to the top with juice mixture (shaken and strained). Top each with cup of club soda and garnish with the sprig of mint.

If bourbon is not your thing, why not try the Kremlin Colonel, a variation on the mint julep that substitutes vodka for bourbon?
Bourbon with its notes of toffee and vanilla has naturally sweet characteristics. Since vodka tastes considerably less sweet, you may opt for more simple syrup.
