I love baby showers, especially since they have come a long way since the days of honeycomb paper decorations and stork centerpieces. Today's baby showers are far more sophisticated and stylish, as they are designed for grownups after all. This modern baby shower is a good example of that, and was directly inspired by the
This owl theme baby shower is a good example of that, and was directly inspired by the owl baby shower invitations from Pear Tree Greetings.
We used the owl theme motif as well as the color palette to create a modern baby shower that's gender neutral. The invitations are so adorable we even used them in our decor.
Setting a pretty tabletop is simple to do when you use your invitation as inspiration. We have some great ideas to dress your table, plus a great tip on how to cross-reference decorative elements within the party space.
We kept our dessert table sleek and modern and used the vibrant colors in our invitation of orange, green, and white. We placed fabric over the tablecloth and used the same pattern in a frame over the dessert table. This is a good trick to help unify two separate areas of a party.
Our centerpiece for the dessert table was made by clustering a few items together. A tall urn filled with flowers was flanked by an owl figurine and a baby bottle which holds one of our Pear Tree invitations.
When you use invitations as cute as these you'll want to show them off as part of the decor. We filled the baby bottle with gumballs to weigh it down and add color. Then cut a slit into the nipple and slid the invitation into it. This is a fun way to add a "baby" touch to the modern owl theme baby shower.
Plain white dishes are a great investment if you entertain often. At about $1 each, these plates become a money saver over time since you can use them over and over for all occasions. Dress them up with colorful napkins wrapped with ribbon and a place card made with card stock and a matching sticker from Pear Tree Greeting's Owl collection.
Baby shower games are as classic as the gifts themselves, but can tend to be a bit juvenile or even embarrassing. We prefer thoughtful activities that guests can do and then leave for the mom-to-be. We designed a "Wishes for Baby" card that everyone can fill out. Mom can read them aloud during the modern baby shower or save them for later.
