Pre-Party Games

More Party Ideas

Pre-party games accomplish several purposes, most important of which is to help establish the tone and mood for the rest of the party.

Pre-party action is usually needed while waiting for a larger group to assemble. It gives early arrivals something to do other than "sit and wait," and helps to keep them from feeling lost in a large room before others get there.

Also, for people who are not acquainted, the pre-party contest creates a feeling of belonging. It is a good way to arrange for two people to work together on a quiz, hunt, or project. In this way, each one will become acquainted with another guest over a shared task.

And finally, the best reason for inducing your company into "self action" is that you will be free to act as greeter, a position that, personally, I am very reluctant to give up.
