Summer Camp at Home: Retreat Party for the Kids

Summer camp is a fun adventure for children of all ages. But if your children are too young to head out on their own (if the thought of not being part of such an exciting experience breaks your heart) consider turning your own backyard into a summer camp retreat!  

Your children will have a blast choosing their own teepee, creating a canteen, making fun crafts and devouring s'mores on a stick. And best part is, below we will give you all the tips, hints and recipes you need to easily do it all yourself.

Your party is winding down and your guests are leaving with their personalized canteens in hand. You can't let them leave without a fun party favor! So why not, also send them off with a few provisions for their "hike" back?

You can easily make a little homemade trail mix by combining dried fruit and nuts and even a few kabob chips and then wrap it all up in a colorful banana, tied with a piece of natural twine or raffia. It's sure to help stave off any growly tummies during their journey home!

Even after your "summer camp" is over, hours of fun will be had as your kids imagine their teepee is their own little house, or a cave or a million other fabulous things.

And it doesn't all have to end as summer draws to close, the teepees can easily be brought inside and set up for a little alone time or some inventive play as the weather turns wet and blustery.
