Through the Years Graduation Party

Pear Tree Greetings created the perfect invitation for our graduation celebration. The 2-sided fold-out card was the perfect place to share some of our favorite pictures and notes with memories of our graduate.

We drew inspiration from the graduation invitations for our afternoon celebration with family and friends.

We chose our invitation because it had a casual, yet sophisticated look. A neutral color scheme gave our party the same look of sophistication and simplicity and our menu was wonderfully casual and reminiscent of school day sack lunches.

We made delicious turkey cranberry wraps and an apple coleslaw salad, and then tucked them inside brown lunch bags. We were able to prepare in advance, and our guests loved the idea of a "sack lunch."

A cream colored quilted coverlet was a perfect tablecloth for our long table and provided the base for our neutral color scheme. Rattan chargers were  layered with cream and chocolate brown plates, and a sack lunch. That's what I call "brown-bagging it" in style!

We added some inspirational stickers to the handles of bamboo forks and tied them to the lunch sacks.

Again, for our centerpiece, we selected items within the neutral color range. A natural burlap ribbon wrapped around vases of white roses, candles and a scholarly-looking bust.

Inspired by the board of memories from the Pear Tree Greetings invitation, we displayed pictures of our grad at different ages down the length of the table. Guests had a wonderful time reminiscing and telling stories inspired by the photographs. This design also inspired a pretty fun party game we played - guess the celeb grad.

Our On the Board invite inspired us to transform some small clipboards into picture frames. We covered the boards with patterned paper and embellished them with a striped bow.  We adhered our pictures to tag paper and then just clipped them on the board!

Our graduate hit the books and graduated with honors. We wanted to include some books in our decorations so we covered some textbooks with kraft paper, tied the stack up with a bow and an old key, and made them a part of the table centerpiece.

It's always fun to add a little unexpected element in your decorating. Along with the vases of flowers on our luncheon table, we popped in a few bouquets of chocolate covered Oreo cookie pops!
