To keep things budget-friendly, dig out your leftover red, white and blue July 4th party goods.

Fill in with a few election-specific items like plastic cups that say McCain and Obama on them.

Throw in some cocktail napkins bearing the Democratic Donkey or Republican Elephant.

Choose an invitation with a patriotic theme that will get your guests ready to rally for their candidate!

We like these Patriotic Invitations, $3.95 for 8.

Music

Sure you'll have the televsion on all night, but keep some music playing in the background. Try a mix of the candidates' favorite songs:

1. "Raisin McCain" by John Rich
2. "If You're Out There" by John Legend
3. "Yes, I can" by Will.i.am
4. "Take a Chance On Me" by ABBA
5. "City of Blinding Lights" by U2
6. "Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys
7. "Barracuda", by Heart
8. "Touch the Sky", by Kanye West
9. "Only in America", Brooks and Dunn
10. "The Rising," Bruce Springstein

Menu

Classic American party food that's easy to eat will keep your guests sustained all night long.

  • Keep bowls of popcorn, potato chips and other snack foods filled. We love the Ulitmate Gift Assortment, $39.99 for 2 gallons from The Popcorn Factory.
  • Try a "Campain Trail Mix" with red and blue M&M's, nuts, mini pretzels.
  • Chili serves a lot of people at once. Pair it with a toppings bar with shredded cheese, sour cream and tortilla strips. Try our favorite chili recipe with pulled beef and pork.
  • Order in buckets of fried chicken with all the fixin's.

Drinks

Order soda ahead of time. These bottles of "Yes We Can" and "Pure McCain" sodas from Jones Soda are so fun.

Then, mix up special election elixirs found in the drinks recipes!

Dessert

Keep it simple and sweet. Whip up batches of cookies straight from the candidates' wives!

Try Michelle Obama's Shortbread Cookies and Cindy McCain's Oatmeal-Butterscotch cookies found on Parents.com.
