Celebrations Circle: Watermelon Treats

Holy hot weather, batmen and women! It's boiling here in New York. What's the weather like where you are?

When I was growing up, warm weather always meant watermelon for dessert. So, I thought I'd take a look around at some of my favorite bloggers and see how they're serving up watermelon. It's definitely not the same old slices I had as a kids. These treats are fabulous!

First up is this Watermelon Strawberry Aqua Fresca recipe from one of my go to health and wellness sites, Blisstree. It looks so bright and refreshing. The recipe is for a non-alchocolic version, but a squirt of vodka or tequilla couldn't hurt this either!

Second City Soiree has this fab looking watermelon bombe up. This is a photo from her first attempt, can you believe it? It's so perfect looking. I might give this a try this weekend. Even if my first try doesn't look as picture perfect as hers, I think it'll be worth it. The oops-I'll-do-it-again version will probably taste pretty darn good anyway.

If you have a summer night that isn't so, so hot and you're in the mood for some baking, we have the cake version of the watermelon-bombe from Ramblings From The Sunshine State. Using frosting instead of ice cream gives you the ability to do a little more detail work on the watermelon skin. Check out those light and dark green lines she included. LOVE!

How about these super cute fondant watermelon slices from The Decorated Cookie Blog? Gorgeous, right? They can turn any dessert you whip up into a watermelon treat. Use them to decorate a cake, top a cupcake, or finish off some sugar cookies. The illustrated how to makes these seem super simple to put together!

There you have it--not yo mama's watermelon...or at least not MY mama's watermelon. Enjoy the weather this weekend!
