I'm not sure about you all, but I love barbeque and three months is never enough time for me to get my fill of some deliciously slathered BBQ foods. This year particularly, I didn't get to indulge as I normally would have since I moved into my new apartment where the only greenery I have is a potted plant on my living room windowsill.
Anyway, this lack of outdoor space forced me to find alternative, but by no means less delicious, forms of BBQ that I could enjoy whenever the craving struck. Here's where being the editor of Celebrations.com gets so awesome.
About a month ago, I got an email from a lovely lady asking if I'd like to sample a few food products from Byron's. On the list was their pulled pork and I literally jumped at the opportunity. And so, three days later I arrived home from work to a package full of pulled pork, ready to go. This of course, called for a dinner with friends at my place.
Overall, the pulled pork was a hit. I followed the directions and allowed the frozen package to thaw out in the fridge the night before. I HIGHLY recommend doing this. Though you can pop it directly into the oven completely frozen it takes a ton longer to cook and will get watered down more.
Once it was cooked through (Byron's has a great note on the back of their packaging on how to cook the pork fully, which helped me out) I taste tested. For me, it was a bit too salty on its own, but my friend tried it and I had to take the fork away. To balance out the salty flavor for myself and a few others (did I mention this package feeds 30?!) I added some grilled pineapples to the mix.
I can't tell you how easy this was - I literally popped the tray in the oven, let it cook, removed it and plated. We did a taco instead of a typical sandwich and served some rice and beans alongside it.
As someone who cooks fresh pretty much always, I have to say I was impressed with Byron's Pulled Pork. It was moist, savory, salty and full of that smoked BBQ flavor I love. Definitely recommend this for parties since it's SO easy to prepare, feeds a crowd and can be served so many different ways! Plus, who doesn't love BBQ all year long??
Thanks for the review, Melissa. Now, comment with what you're going to miss most about summer to enter to win your own package of Byron's BBQ!

What I am going to miss about summer? Warm breezes at the beach. The sound of my childrens laughter as they play outside. The smell of a good barbeque. The company of good friends as we sit on the deck relaxing.
That is what I'll miss from the summer.
Grilling .. fresh veggies
Nice nights and cookouts!!!
I am going to miss sitting on my screened porch with my laptop or a book - it gets way too cold here to do that in the winter.

I will miss Grilling and BBQing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course The Most Of All.
I'm going to miss the sound of kids playing in the street, the beaches, parks, swimming pools & backyards full of family & friends kicking back, grilling & just chilling out. The good ole' out doors. That's what summer's all about. Who needs Disneyland when you live in Hawaii.
I will miss my raised garden my kids built me for Mother's day. I have had a lot of fresh produce, and enought to supply them out of such a small area.
