Celebrate This: White Chocolate Day

Today we celebrate everyone's favorite misnomer, white chocolate. Not technically a chocolate, white chocolate contains no cocoa solids and is merely a confectionary derivative of chocolate, a definition too long to fit on any candy wrapper. In honor of chocolate's creamy white cousin, we've gathered some of the richest, most decadent recipes in the blogosphere, so consider this post a confectionary derivative of those blogs.

Even though yesterday marked the last day of summer, you can still savor the last of the season with this unique spin on a campfire classic. The Scene from Me takes the camp out of s'mores but leaves us the adventure with her recipe for White Chocolate S'mores Bars. Gooey where it counts, these all-white cake bars are as heavenly as their color suggests. The only caution that comes with these sweet treats is that, unlike traditional s'mores, these white-hot bars are made in batches, making it impossible to resist seconds or thirds or fourths.

This next recipe from the extremely talented Chef Nelly of Cook By Your Wits is a sight for sore eyes. The gorgeous layers of cake and mousse in this White Chocolate Berry Napoleon are truly a work of art, and Nelly's clear and concise instructions puts this masterpiece within fork's reach.

Saraplicious Kitchen brings us this next bit of eye candy that looks and tastes like a gourmet dessert, but in fact the ingredients list is surprisingly ordinary. These White Chocolate Oreo Truffles ooze sophistication without sending you on a wild goose chase searching for extract of this or cream of that. An ideal last-minute party treat, these creamy morsels will become your new secret weapon.

Today we finish things of with something a little unexpected, a recipe that combines two unlikely things and somehow makes them work. A dessert that mixes class with comfort...comfort food that is. Just in time for peach season, Macheesmo serves up this shameless White Chocolate Peach Cobbler that boasts fresh peaches and a decadent white chocolate topping. This dessert really does kill two birds with one stone, helping bakers celebrate White Chocolate Day and Peach Season all at one.
