Great Escapes. Weekend getaways call for slender suitcases, yet many memories.

Even though this economy might not condone travel and leisure- its seems in tough times we find the need to getaway.

Packing for great escapes

Destination weddings, bachelorette parties, and milestone birthday parties are the new trend.
I flew to Orlando just for the weekend, to attend an engagement party. See how I overcame my light- packing challenge:
I started my wardrobe with a tailored pant (think denim trousers, structured chinos, or cropped khakis), I packed a few bright colored blouses that can go from day to night (linen and cotton breath). A simple dress (silk retains shape well) that can be worn to the beach during the day or dressed up at night. I always pack one piece of fancy jewelry for instant glamour. A casual woven belt can dress down outfits. A skinny metallic belt can give a nice silhouette to a loose blouse. A long black cardigan goes with everything and is perfect for chilly nights.
Spray sunscreen is easy to reapply and gets hard to reach spots like your back. Big sunglasses with both UVA and UVB protection are a must. Tinted moisturizer and an all over face tint, which can be used on eyes, lips, or cheeks, will stand up to the heat.
Make sure to have fully charged camera handy to capture the celebration.
Tips on making it memorable:

  • Collect napkins with logos, drink umbrellas, and matchbooks for scrapbooking.
  • Ask the bartender to give you theĀ  recipe of your favorite drink.
  • Have the DJ write the titles of the local tunes.
  • Take paper menus from the restaurants you dine at and review your dish in the margins.
