Celebrate This: Strawberry Cream Pie Day

Now that it's finally cool enough to switch our ovens back on and pack up the grill until next year, it's time to celebrate the beginning of baking seasonal with ultimate transitional baked good: strawberry cream pie. Light, fluffy and juicy, strawberry cream pie weens us off of summer with its refreshing flavors, whilst foreshadowing autumn's cozy offerings. Now, in no particular oder, I present you with four unique takes on this classic dessert in hopes that saying goodbye to summer will be a little bit sweeter.

First on the menu is a fresh Strawberry Cream Pie from Willow Bird Baking, a picture perfect dessert just begging to be devoured. While strawberry-picking season may be through, this recipe can still be enjoyed year-round with flash-frozen berries, a technique that seems to suspend the summer field in time for our eating pleasure.

Here's another recipe of miniature proportion, that's right Willow Bird Baking strikes again with these adorable  Itsy Bitsy Berry Cream Pies. Perfect for dinner parties, or any time you want to avoid hearing the words "just cut me a small piece", these dainty desserts pack a powerful punch into bite-sized shells.

Sour cream reigns supreme in this next recipe for Strawberry Sour Cream Pie. This mile-high pie plucked from Kate's Recipe Box contains all the elements of a traditional strawberry cream pie without all the fluff...get it?

This final recipe for the day is equal parts sweet and sexy, a decadent treat straight from the creative kitchen of Our Best Bites, this Chocolate-Drizzled Strawberries and Cream Pie is not for the faint of heart. Perfect for a romantic evening in or any occasion when an extra bit of extravagance is necessary.

Thanks for the link love. I'm sure you could not have realized this, but the mini pies you attribute to Just Cookin' above are actually a Willow Bird Baking recipe (and those are my photos). Just Cookin' lifted these from my website without permission or credit, and I am currently communicating with them to take them down.

I'm happy for you to link them with attribution as you do here -- could you just link to their original post on WBB? The link can be found here: http://willowbirdbaking.wordpress.com/2011/06/22/itsy-bitsy-berry-cream-pies/

    Thanks again :)
