Forget stringing popcorn for your Christmas tree and start using it to make an entire display! This Green Popcorn Christmas tree is unique, inexpensive and too cute to boot! It can be used as a centerpiece or placed as décor! You can make it a part of your holiday treats if you choose to use toothpicks instead of glue!

Step 1- Pop 4 bags of microwave popcorn and pour ½ cup of green syrup in each bag.  Shake till it is spread evenly.  Bake popcorn on cookie tray at 375 degrees for 10 minutes to caramelize and dry the kernels!

Syrup ingredients:

  • 1 ½  cups of Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ cup of water
  • 15 drops of green food dye or more till achieving desired color

Directions- Bring sugar, butter and water to a simmer until a thick syrup is made. Remove from the flame and add desired green food dye.

Step 2- Take a foam cone (found at any craft store) and attach the popcorn either by sticking it on with a glue gun or attaching it with a toothpick! Scatter Dots candy throughout the tree as “lights” or “ornaments.”

Step 3- Display the Green Popcorn Christmas Tree with small ornaments that can be found at the 99 Cent Store!

What a fun and easy DIY project for the holidays!!
