Celebrate This: Elvis’ Birthday

If the King were alive and kickin' he would've turned 77 years old yesterday. Yep, January 9th is the birthday and the date on which we celebrate the continuing legacy of Elvis Presley. The obvious choice for a celebration might be to fly on down to Graceland and party 'til you drop, but who has the time or the money for that? Instead we've  got something a little bit tastier in mind: peanut butter and bananas. While it may sound more like the contents of a first grader's lunch, this potent pairing was the King's go-to snack, and we wouldn't be surprised if an unreleased song turned up about the two foods from some super secret vault.

There's no impersonating this first idea from the Celebrations vault. These Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter-Stuffed Banana Bites are the real deal, and they are sure to rock your world. Great for kids or as superb hors d'oeuvres at any fancy fete you've got planned.

Elvis' signature snack was a peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich, but this one from Kaysie Norman's secret stash would probably get the King's stamp of approval too. This Grilled PB & J Sandwich puts a sophisticated spin on the brown bag classic, while still delivering the same great taste. Sweet, salty, creamy, and crunchy, just how it should be!

From rhinestone suites to lush sideburns, Elvis really knew how to do over the top. This next idea comes from Heavy Table  and is just over the top enough to celebrate the King's birthday. In sandwich form bacon, peanut butter and banana may seem like a tummy ache waiting to happen, but when the same three ingredients are packed into these bite-size Elvis Cupcakes something magical happens, and a party is instantly started!
