Summer Crafts for Kids Week: Meaghan Mountford of Edible Crafts

Today's featured craft blogger is Meaghan Mountford, Edible Crafts editor of Craft Gossip, a super resource for craft news, reviews and of course, craft projects.  Party planners will find endless inspiration at Edible Crafts, especially for unique party food and creative and edible favors.

Meaghan also authored Cookie Sensations, which draws on her decade of experience as a professional cookie decorator. Her cookie creations, truly works of art (that you can eat!), have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine and Modern Bride.

At Meaghan's online shop, Chic Cookies, you can find themed cookie decorating kits. Read more about Meaghan's cookie creations on her blog, the decorated cookie.

Meaghan was kind enough to share two great craft ideas with Celebrations. Cupcake toppers are a great way to embellish cupcakes, especially for a kid's birthday party, where the kids can make their own toppers. Meaghan also recommends putting a fun twist on the craft by secretly marking one of the toppers with a uniquely colored circle sticker. The person with the circle sticker topper wins a prize! To learn more about this craft, check out Easy Cupcake Toppers.

Another inspired idea from Meaghan is DIY Candy Pendants. Everyone has seen candy necklaces and bracelets , but these  are an adorable homemade version. It makes for a great party activity as they're fun to make and eat. For more on this craft, check out Candy Pendants.
