Duel in the Desert Super Bowl
Creating a Stadium Atmosphere
Decorating for the Super Bowl, or any football game, is fun and easy. This year's Duel in the Desert is all about the game and the food!
- This party begs for cactus swizzle sticks to show-off your party punch in team tumblers!
- Decorate your home with a football theme using team colors, pennants and megaphones.
- Pass out referee whistles for calling party penalties!
- Ask guests to dress in team jerseys and colors. Wear a referee-style shirt.
- Have lots of napkins personalized with a Super Bowl-related slogans or the teams’ names.
Keep everything quick, easy and social. With a bit of ease, southwestern flare and gourmet zest, my playbook favorites will help score a touchdown with your guests:
1 can pineapple juice
1 liter ginger ale
1 cup bourbon
Ice cubes
2 large cans fruit cocktail
Combine all ingredients in a 2 quart pitcher. Stir. Serve chilled.
10 large or 12 medium sized tart tomatillos
3 serrano chiles
½ cup white onion, minced for blender
¼ cup white onion, minced for topping
½ clove garlic, minced
¼ cup fresh cilantro, coarsely chopped
Dash of salt
Husk and wash the fresh green tomatillos. Pat dry, stem and chop them. Chop the Serrano chiles. In a blender, puree the tomatillos, chiles, ½ cup minced white onion, garlic and fresh cilantro until well-blended and smooth. In a large serving bowl, pour mixture and stir in the remaining minced onion. Season to taste with salt. Refrigerate overnight or serve immediately with fresh corn chips. Score!
2 lbs of ground beef
4 egg yolks, well beaten
4 tsp yellow onion, grated
