10 Cakes Gone Wrong, Very Wrong

I've rounded up 10 of my favorite cakes gone wrong in case you're like me and need a little pick-me-up. At least I know my baking can’t be much worse than some of these disasters!

Every so often, I feel inspired to take what I’ve learned at Celebrations and try my hand at crafting and sometimes even baking. And while the fabulous celeb cakes and mouthwatering recipes from our experts encourage me to bring some of that magic to my own kitchen, I usually find that baking is something that's way easier said than done.

Let’s just say my last cake experience ended in a garbage full of "rough drafts."

After that experience, I’ve been hesitant to give it another go – that is until I stumbled upon the site Cake Wrecks. As you can guess, the site rounds up some of the Internet’s best and worst cake catastrophes, and more importantly makes me feel better about my mishap.

  • Now isn’t this the saddest cake you ever did see?! We’re not just talking about Eeyore’s usual expression, either.

  • We’d imagine Tinker Bell might have a hard time flying around with thighs like those.  At least they got the sass right.

  • Cute? No. Creepy? Yes. These desserts may have sounded good in theory, but we give the presentation a D+ (the plus is for effort).

  • This cake definitely goes above and beyond the words foot fetish. The green fungi and yellow toenails just add to the ooey-gooey-grossness of this not-so-appetizing cake.

  • America’s favorite red head got the frosting treatment, and I kind of wish she hadn’t. Watching reruns of I love Lucy is going to be slightly more terrifying after seeing this cake.

  • If they were to make a horror movie about a killer baby, this is probably close to what it would look like. I’ll eat a slice of that creepy looking head just so I don’t have to look at it anymore!

  • This cake needs to be accompanied with some creepy horror music and a nightlight. The pigtails are cute, but not so much when you’re staring into those terrifying eyes that seem to follow your every move.

  • Believe it or not, this cake was meant to be Santa Clause’s popular red hat. Unfortunately, it came out looking a little more like Santa’s insides than his outsides.

  • This cake reminds me of that time Spongebob strays from his humble home in Bikini Bottom and ends up sun dried on the sands of some island nearby. The result? One dried out, terrifying looking sponge kids can’t wait to be rid of. This cake has sort of the same effect.

  • Halloween is truly the only acceptable occasion to serve this cake. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Halloween and yes, this cake is real.
