10 Repurposed Cookie Favor Ideas

Edible favors are always a favorite choice for hostesses, and guests seem to love the idea as well. Check out these 10 easy ways to repurpose what you probably already have and package cookies creatively for any celebration!

  • Berry Basket Favors

Berry baskets are a perfect container to reuse for other good things, like cookies. We made a big batch of Cowboy Cookies, slipped them in berry baskets, then tied them up with a red print bandana.  We placed a basket of cookies at each place setting on our tables at the backyard barbecue. Our tables looked colorful and festive, and of course, our guests were absolutely delighted to take home their scrumptious party favors.

  • Cookies and Milk Party Favor

A bottle of milk, frappuccino, or latte is just the perfect place to tie a gourmet cookie. We purchased our gourmet mocha cookies from the bakery, slipped them in a little cellophane bag and tied the bag to a bottle of frappuccino with a classy striped grosgrain ribbon. Party favor, thank you gift, it's all good!

  • DIY Envelope Cookie Favors

These cute envelopes would make great party favors for a destination celebration or bon voyage party. They're easy to make with sturdy, 2-sided decorative scrapbook paper and the perfect size for a gourmet cookie!

  • DIY S'mores Cookie Kit

Here's a great way to reuse a plastic strawberry basket. Spray the berry basket with a chocolate brown paint, let dry, and then weave a striped ribbon through it. Add marshmallows, graham crackers, and a Hershey bar...that's it! It's a fun party favor for an outdoor event, or a nice little hostess gift.

  • DIY Decorative Cookie Sacks

Prints, polka dots, stripes... There are lots of decorative sacks in the craft stores and online that make the perfect packaging for homemade cookies. For a recent pool party, we created favors by filling a bright yellow sack with some coconut macaroons and then tucked them in a cute metal container with a bottle of lemonade.

  • A Scoop Filled with Cookies

Check out the treasures in the toy aisles at your stores. We created a new purpose for the colorful plastic scoops that are meant to scoop sand on the beach. We filled each scoop with miniature cookies, slipped a cellophane bag over the scoop, and tied it up with a coordinating ribbon. We added a Happy Birthday tag, and within just minutes, had a cute party favor ready to go! Another good thing? They're inexpensive ($1 each), and reusable!

  • Repurpose Cardboard Baskets

Small cardboard berry baskets can be reused to package up some special cookies. We baked lemon cookies, placed them in cellophane bags, and then tied them up with tulle and organza ribbon. Add a white daisy and a tag for a sweet  bridal shower favor or gift.

  • Repurposed Cookie Containers

Look for unusual, one-of-a-kind pots or vases to serve as a vessel for a cookie gift or centerpiece. We wrapped macadamia nut cookies up in cellophane, slipped them into these inexpensive, but decorative pots and tied them with color coordinated satin ribbon. Set these on your party tables in place of flowers and the guest with a sticker on the bottom of their plate gets to take one home.

  • Cookies in a Can

Those tall potato chip cans are just the best place to stack some cookies up! We covered the can in some decorative paper and tied it with a beautiful ribbon. It's gorgeous just like that, but for a double layer of wrapping, we tucked the cans inside of a wine bag that we had purchased on clearance. Ahhh. So many ways to repurpose and reuse things. This is a perfect welcome gift for some new neighbors.

  • Repurposed Grocery Favor Boxes

Small square Kraft boxes hold three delicious cookies very comfortably. Wrap the cookies in parchment paper and stack inside the box. We embellished ours with a strip of burlap fabric, a periwinkle flower and satin ribbon. Choose colors to coordinate with a wedding or baby shower theme and these make lovely favors for your guests. Or, if you want a sweet little gift to say thank you to someone, this would be perfect!
