Best Bourbon Cocktails for Fall

Bourbon can be enjoyed year-round, but there’s nothing quite like sipping the robust, smoky whisky during the crisp fall months. After all, the US Senate declared September National Bourbon Heritage Month, so even the government thinks it’s a good idea to drink the aged liquor in the fall.

To give bourbon an extra fall kick, try enjoying it in one of these delicious fall cocktails. With ingredients including vanilla, fig, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg these drinks are like drinking autumn in a glass. Enjoy them well into the holiday season – bourbon is the officiall in-law cure-all.

  • New-Fashioned Ginger Cocktail

As the trees turn their beautiful gold and burnt orange colors for fall, this New Fashioned Ginger cocktail also sports a bright golden straw color that’s perfect for autumn. The tastes of bourbon, fresh ginger and orange also give it a warm, fall kick. Plus, it’s made with Maker’s 46, which makes everything more delicious.

  • Autumn’s Old Fashioned

Another twist on the classic American drink, this one includes orange bitters, muddle orange and Jim Beam’s Red Stag Cinnamon Bourbon – sounds like everything you need for a delicious cocktail. It was uploaded to Pinterest by user Ben Kessler, who has the full recipe on his page.

  • Maple Bourbon Cider

Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you don’t like getting lost in corn mazes and picking apples fresh from the orchard. But while you’re enjoying these childlike fall activities, you can enoy a mature apple cider with this Maple Bourbon Cider recipe. The sweetness is balanced out by a dash of cayenne pepper for a true spiced cider that won’t disappoint.

  • Spiked Pumpkin Spice Latte

Everyone’s favorite coffee drink for fall just got a major upgrade. Use this simple recipe to make your own version of a pumpkin spiced latte right at home and add, you guessed it, a shot of bourbon. Guarantee you Starbucks doesn’t have that on the menu.

  • Smashing Pumpkin Recipe

Just like the rock band, this cocktail seems rough around the edges, but actually has a delicate soft side. The Smashing Pumpkin featured in Garden & Gun magazine contains fresh pumpkin, cloves, cinnamon, allspice and a dash of celery bitters. Pumpkin perfection.

  • Fig and Bourbon Cocktail

Figs and cocktails don’t really seem like a likely combination, but this Fig and Bourbon cocktail from My Man’s Belly proves us skeptics wrong. The delicious drink includes Cointreau, Brown Sugar Fig Simple Syrup (which is surprisingly easy to make), and dark chocolate bitters. This is perfect for an after-dinner drink, or to help ease the tension around the holidays – which, let’s be honest, is the majority of the holiday season.
