Dora and Diego Party

Boys and girls will have an equally fun time with this Diego and Dora theme party idea.

Inspired by the two beloved children's shows, I put together this fabulous looking party for my son Lucas and his friend Liv. The combination of Dora and Diego made for a really fun time and didn't make the boys or girls feel left out.

When throwing a kids party, I typically recommend that you invite 10-15 of your child's closest friends. When making your invitation, make sure that you include an RSVP date in your invitation so that you can confirm the number of guests at your party far ahead of time. Always make sure to over-invite to a kid's party because someone is bound to get sick, get fussy, or the party will interfere with someone's naptime.

Having your Diego and Dora party at your house is always an easy and convenient place to throw a party. Transform your backyard into a mini jungle so that it reflects the setting on the shows.

  • We kept decor minimal for this party and really incorporated the theme into our menu. Customize plates, cups, placemats, and tablecloths with images of Diego and Dora on them. This way your theme will constantly be present even when your guests are sitting down and eating.

  • For all kids' parties, it is important to make sure that the food you are serving is healthy, while remaining appealing to the children as well. These dulce de leche rice treats were made by my friend and were an absolute hit and they were a lot less sugary than a typical cake.

  • We had two kinds of cookies at the party--these star shaped ones...

  • ...and these Boots inspired designs that we gave as favors.

  • What's a party without a cupcake? We kept these simple for the kids. Vanilla cakes with buttercream icing dyed green and topped with a Diego face or Dora ring.

  • Here's a close up of the cupcakes - so easy, yet so fun! Try to keep in theme with your costume party by serving food with images of the characters, such as Diego and Dora, on the food itself.

  • By cutting back on decor, we were able to invite a special guest to the party to play with the kids - Diego!

  • While the boys had fun with Diego, the girls were able to customize their very own Dora bag.

  • The main decor of your Diego and Dora themed party will be the costumes that your guests wear to the party. You can purchase Diego and Dora costumes online at sites like Costume Express. A great way to make your guests feel comfortable wearing their costumes is by having your staff wear costumes as well!

  • Even my dog Lulu Flynn got into costume!
