Easy Ways to Customize a High School Graduation

High school graduations are a mix of fun and sophistication. They’re a far cry from simpler and more informal kindergarten graduations, but they’re also not quite ready for the formality that typically accompanies college celebrations.

An easy way to add the pomp and circumstance a high school graduation party demands, is with a mix of DIY and store bought personalization. Not only does this help keep budget for the party in check, it also ensures the graduate, and the culmination of all those years of hard work, remains front and center.

This high school grad party all started with personalized M&Ms. Though we’ve been fans of incorporating this customized candy into our celebrations for years, the new colors and products offered made them a natural source of inspiration for the high school grad party we shot recently.

Take a look and see if you agree!

  • While it's easy enough to pop some plastic utensils and paper napkins in a pile at the end of your buffet, try displaying them in small galvanized tins. Not only does the metal give your table a more chic and completed look, the tins are also useful for all your other summer parties.

  • Speaking of utensils and napkins...most graduation parties will feature buffets. Make it easy for guests to grab theirs and add a personal touch to your party with our simple tutorial for DIY grad party napkin rings . The M&Ms can proclaim anything from congrats to the name of the grad's new school to a picture of the grad herself.

  • Custom printables are a super simple way to dress up your graduation party without spending tons on generic party supplies. Our design here mimics designs, shapes and hues of the M&Ms we used that were inspired by the grad's new school colors.

  • Fill a couple of glasses with your M&Ms to add a pop of theme color to your table, then stick the printable decor signs onto a skewer and secure in the center. SO simple, but incredibly chic.

  • If you've got a larger crowd but don't want to simply settle for a sheet cake, consider grad cap cake push-ups . Not only are they delish and trendy right now, they're also a great way to add customization to your party.

  • Serve a signature cocktail or mocktail at your graduation party, just make sure guests sip it from glasses embellished with printable flag toppers. These work great as place cards for a sit down, too!

  • Embellish your table with printables however you can. To add a touch of festivity and personality to our favor stand, we simply popped a flag with printed topper throught the center.

  • Send guests home with semi-homemade favors. Fill inexpensive jars with custom M&Ms and slap on a custom printed label. Alternatively, bake a batch of your favorite cookies and create folded envelopes to house them inside.

  • Like what you see? You can get the look, too! Click and download these class of 2012 printables.
