Fanatical Super Bowl Food

The Super Bowl is a very special occasion, one that calls for going all-out with everything from decorations to food. In fact, it's a great excuse to eat all that guilty pleasure junk food we might not usually indulge in. However, there is a fine line between the classic Super Bowl junk food and when things get taken to the next level. We're talking about when Super Bowl snacks turns fanatical.

In this gallery, we've brought together some of the most interesting, outrageous, and in a couple cases downright dangerous, Super Bowl snacks. Enjoy, and try at your own risk!

  • Salami Football

To start things off on the tamer side, here is the salami football. That football-shaped salami certainly looks authentic, but we would not recommend eating it all in one bite.

  • Chocolate-Covered Bacon-Wrapped Dates

This bold recipe from The Hungry Fan and our expert Daina Falk takes the combination of sweet and salty snacks to a whole new level. She took dates, stuffed them with Gorgonzola cheese, wrapped them in bacon, and after baking for 15 minutes, covered them in melty chocolate. It may sound a little extreme, but this decadent combination of flavors is irresistible. Get our recipe here.

  • Bacon Explosion

The Bacon Explosion is a growing popular trend among fanatic foodies at Super Bowl parties. What is it exactly? Ground sausage stuffed with crumbled bacon bits, wrapped in bacon strips. The calorie count? About 5,000. Yum.
