Fun & Festive DIY Christmas Ornament Ideas

It's the most wonderful time of the year! For those of us who celebrate Christmas, we look forward to decking the halls and decorating our Christmas trees.

Whether you have children and are looking for a fun way to craft with them this year, or just want a few ideas on how to make a creative festive ornament this year, I found a few that I am dying to make to decorate my own tree.

Scroll through the gallery and let us know which one is your favorite DIY ornament this year!

  • Washi tape has been a trend in crafting this year. We used it to decorate our parties, Easter eggs and so much more. When I came across these beautiful DIY ornaments from Odessa May covered in washi tape, I was really impressed! I love the matte finish and how easy they are to replicate!

  • Chalkboard ornaments are a chic and simple way to decorate the tree. You can easily paint plain ornaments from the dollar store, then have the rest of your family decorate their own ornament in chalk!

  • Get really crafty with homemade ornaments using this tutorial for scented ornaments. They're made from easy to find supplies and only require a basic stictch to put together.

  • This stunning pear ornament really caught my eye on the A Pumpkin and a Princess blog. With a paper mache pear, metallic paint and German glass glitter, it's super easy to follow her tutorial and recreate this glitzy ornament for your tree. It would even make a really beautiful homemade holiday gift.

  • I found these clay ornaments stamped wtih a doily over at Marley and Lockyer. I love the texture and stamped "joy" text. It really has a homemade, chic look to it, which would look beautiful hanging next to some handmade garland!

  • I love this idea to add some extra glam to your tree. These confetti system ornaments from A Lovely Lark were inspired by West Elm's new collection of pretty ornaments. She loved them so much she decided to DIY them and I think the outcome was killer!

  • Holiday cookies are not just for eating! Try decorating with them too. These gingerbread cookie ornaments are a fun way to add a different style ornament to your tree. They may be covered in edible glitter, but they aren't going to be edible for long! Save some to eat and add the rest to your tree.
