Hazelnut Fall Recipes to Try

Pumpkin, apple and cinnamon are some of the more popular fall flavors that begin to pop up like wildfire once September rolls around, but did you know the month officially celebrates a less popular, but just as delicious flavor? September is National Hazelnut Month and as big lovers of the flavor, we're celebrating.

We've rounded up a few choice recipes we found to encourage you to head into the kitchen and whip up a seasonal dish that's sweet, savory and totally delicious. So hold the pumpkin for October and celebrate National Hazelnut Month this September with one of these favorite recipes!

  • Nutella and Biscoff are two ingredients we've been hearing so much about, but this is the first recipe we've seen them come together in.  Darla's Nutella Biscoff Snickerdoodles are absolutely irresistible and her clever tip for perfectly swirled frosting is one we'll use for years!

  • Created by Paul Corsentino, Executive Chef at The National, this Fall Basket cocktail recipe is a light, sweet blend that brings you into Autumn at the first sip. Mix up your own by rimming a martini glass with brown sugar and pouring in a shaken mix of 1 1/2 ounces of apple-infused vodka, an ounce of Frangelico Hazelnut liqueur and a splash each of simple syrup and cranberry juice. Garnish with a slice of apple!

  • Izy is an impressive blogger I follow. Not only is she an amazing young photographer and cook, she's also incredibly unique. I never come across a recipe on her site that's a "been there, done that" kind of thing. This toasted-coconut hazelnut butter is one example of all that and the perfect recipe to have on hand all season-long.

  • While you wouldn't hesitate to mix some chopped hazelnuts into a chocolate cookie, did you ever think to combine them with white chocolate? These cookies look perfectly chewy and oh, so delicious, so we recommend giving it a try.

  • Whether you've got a reason to host a brunch party or not, find a weekend to make these buttermilk pancakes. Topped with a blueberry compote and hazelnut syrup, this recipe pays homage to the end of fresh summer fruits and welcomes the fall harvest into your kitchen.

  • I love Nutella so much, I've been known to eat it off a spoon when I'm in need of a quick pick-me-up. Now, thanks to Jill, I can make my very own. Her amazing homemade Nutella tutorial makes it look so simple, I'm no longer intimidated at not making that perfect blend I crave so much.

  • Though summer is by far THE frozen treat month, we need to slowly wean ourselves off the cold desserts we enjoy so much. A simple, homemade coffee cooler, complete with lots of fall flavors thanks to the hazelnut, is the perfect way to do just that.

  • At first, it was the light flaky crumb crust of this tart that made me do a double take. Then, I looked more closely and realized Deb worked plums and hazelnuts into the filling, and THEN my brain exploded over the sheer deliciousness of this. Make a hazelnut plum crumb tart like this for friends this fall and they'll never leave.

  • Nutella buttercream frosting?! YES. Hazelnut and chocolate are a naturally delicious pairing, but Robin combines them beautifully in these cupcakes. A must make for any fall celebration!
