Holiday Gift Ideas for Teachers

Deciding on the right gift to show your child's teacher how much he or she is appreciated isn't always easy. Luckily, we have some ideas for holiday gifts that teachers will actually be glad to receive.

Think traditional presents such as gift cards and school supplies, but packaged in ways to make them stand out.

  • Gift Cards: When presented in an unique cup and saucer, a gift card to your local coffee shop or tea house seems more special. The delicate shape of this set makes the gift feminine, but you can easily swap it for a sizable mug to make it more manly.

Fill the cup or mug with coffee beans to help the gift card stand up, and wrap with a bag and matching ribbon.

  • Word Art: Although English teachers may appreciate the use of words, all teachers will love the graphic appeal and sentiment of this gift. Made using Wordle, a free word cloud application, you (or the student) choose words to inspire or describe the teacher receiving it, and the program creates art for you. Simply tie with a pretty bow to resemble a gift box, and give it with a stand for displaying!

  • School Supplies Tree: Though you may think the last gift a teacher would want to receive is a bunch of school supplies, it's actually a present they'll truly appreciate and use.

Try this unique presentation idea, inspired by the shape of a Christmas tree to give your supplies a festive, and special look. Get the how-to here.

  • Flowers: When it comes to teacher gifts, don't underestimate the appeal of flowers! As long as you know the teacher receiving them has no allergies or other sensitivities, this may be one of the best gifts. The Happy Holiday Gardenia in a festive argyle planter is a good floral choice.

  • Food: Flowers are special, but food is always a treat and teacher's enjoy it without having to find a place for another picture frame or ornament. We love the Popcorn Factory's Wintry Wonder Snack tin for the favorite teach'.

  • Food: Another option for the teacher with a sweet tooth? Santa's Treat Box from 1-800-Baskets.

Whether you use one of our suggestions or create your own special basket or arrangement, just remember to keep that special teacher in mind!
