Nautical Themed Table Setting

Nothing says nautical like blue and white stripes. Add a punch of lime green and this tablescape really pops!

Tied in with such phrases as, "Ahoy, it's a Boy!" or "Tying the Knot" the nautical theme has become a popular one for baby showers and wedding showers alike.

So, with just a few stripes, and  some beach-style accents, you can easily create the perfect nautical party for any occasion.

  • It's easy to decorate with a nautical theme in mind. The navy and white look is cool and classic, and while the colors can stand alone, they will flatter almost any accent color, if you so choose.

  • A regular candle holder or lantern turns instantly nautical with some blue and white striped ribbon and a sea-inspired Christmas ornament tied onto it.

  • A blue and white striped bowl was the perfect vessel for holding rope and seashell-covered balls.  You can purchase the balls at gift shops and craft stores, or make some yourself. It just takes a styrofoam ball, some rope or shells, and lots of glue. Toss in a couple of white starfish and you're ready to set sail!

  • Lime green is such a great accent color with the classic navy and white. It brings a little punch of excitement to the color pallette. This lime green polka dot tray landed right in the middle of the table and served perfectly to hold some more stripes and sea-inspired objects.

  • When decorating for a celebration, look around your home for accents that will fit the theme of your party. Some rope and an old key make this table just a bit more interesting.

  • Striped star dishes from the 4th of July worked into this nautical-themed party perfectly and were just the right size for a piece of blueberry cheesecake. Embellished with a quick little do-it-yourself nautical flag, this little dessert created some waves!

  • Visit your craft store for inexpensive embellishments that help create the nautical theme for your table.  Here, a little wooden anchor sits atop the plates and makes an instant statement for your guests: "Anchors away for a fun celebration!" Create some interest and have fun with prints and patterns by folding two paper napkins together.

  • If your party is poolside, think about placing some nautical beach towels on the backs of the chairs. It's an easy way to give your gathering another splash of color.
