Perfect Pear Party

For a wedding or engagement party theme that fits the happy couple "pear-fectly," look no further! Whenever we can impart a play on words into a party theme, it creates a multitude of possibilities. In this case we chose the "perfect pear" design from Pear Tree Greeting's wedding invitations as our inspiration and related it back to the couple as being the perfect "pair."

We picked our color palette from the invitations themselves, but went with more of a lavender color versus pink to incorporate our bride's chosen colors. Just as the gold pairs perfectly with pink, the darker lavender hue works with it to create a lovely complementary color scheme while black adds a modern and sophisticated touch.

To really bring out our invitation's role in the party's setting, we chose to incorporate golden hued pears as part of our accent decor as well as in food and drink. The ideas all worked well together and create a pretty, but not-to-fussy atmosphere.

When searching for inspiration for an event, always search invitation designs to help spark your interest and imagination.

This idea was sponsored by Pear Tree Greetings.

  • Our entire celebration was inspired by this Perfect Pear invitation from Pear Tree Greetings . What initially drew us to this design wasn't the play on words (so great to get creative with though!). It was the layered look and subtle, yet glam color scheme that really had our ideas going. The only tweak we made to our party's colors was in the pops of pink - we opted for a more lavender look since it was our bride's chosen color.

  • The big focus of our engagement celebration was the table display. Taking from the invitation's layered design we created a setting for guests embellished with subtle pear references.

  • At each guest's place we layered plates, napkins and doilies in our color scheme. Then, we topped with a pear place card.

  • Also at each seat was a game for guests to test their knowledge of the bride and groom. We made these by printing our questions on cardstock and stamping with a pear design.

  • The same technique was employed to dress up a simple black favor bag filled with some peach liqueur and chocolates for guests to enjoy.

Since engagement parties will likely include men as well as women it's important to appeal to both when thinking about favors. Edible treats are a favorite choice since they are easily available, are economical, and because they're consumed guests don't need to worry about finding a use for something or adding to their household clutter.

  • Down the center of the table we kept it simple and bright. It's easy to create a statement making table without breaking bank - just use flowers in season and some simple glass vases.

  • Above our dessert table we hung a mirror we found and painted over in chalkboard paint. The bride and groom's initials were an easy way to add some personalization to the space.

  • Everyone enjoyed a special toast to the bride and groom, too. And you guessed it! This pear champagne cocktail was the signature drink served!

  • Pear galette was an easy menu choice for us. The sweet and savory flavors were a wonderful addition to the brunch.
