Pretty in Purple Bat Mitzvah Celebration

I always love to tie paper products into my events and for this Bat Mitzvah celebration I found such inspiration from the invitations for it.

I was excited to have Pear Tree Greeting's Linear Star of David Bat Mitzvah invites to drive the party's color scheme. They provided so much inspiration for me when setting the menu and deciding on the more modern decorations for the celebration, while still keeping the traditions of the religious milestone in mind.

Naturally, the invitation's color scheme of purple and white was the first thing I turned to when I started planning. My third color, gold, was included in the mix to add a regal touch to the party, which makes for appropriate decor whether this is a traditional Bat Mitzvah for a 13-year old girl or one for a newly converted adult to the faith.

  • I started with the royal purple linens that matched my invitation for the base of my tablescape. Two horizontal table runners layered atop that base added more color and texture to my display.

  • Table runners are a great resource if you're looking to save a bit of budget on your table decor, but still want it to look fabulous.

  • I also created party circles that read “Mazel Tov” which were used as cupcake charms attached to the purple wrappers. The cupcakes added a sweet touch to each place setting and tied the purple back into each solid white china plate.

  • For the centerpieces, I used purple phlox-like wildflowers mixed with white roses and tulips and spray painted leaves gold for added coordination. Wildflowers are a fantastic way to create an impressive centerpiece on a budget - check out my tips on how to achieve this look.

  • The metallic leaves in the centerpieces also added a pop of gold to the individual place settings. I folded my white napkins and sat them in water goblets and added a leaf to each one for a beautiful display.

  • At the buffet, I placed our signature drink for the party, Royal Purple Punch , with purple striped straws and more cupcakes for guests to take as they pleased. I incorporated a simple circle garland in purple and white for a decorative backdrop that was sweet and simple.

  • For additional personalization, I created printables backed with purple cardstock as a well wish to Jessica, the honoree. All in all, it ended up being a very sweet set-up, perfect for Jessica’s Bat Mitzvah! And all of these ideas would work wonderfully for any milestone celebration or a bridal shower or dinner party!
