Salty and Sweet Trail Mix Recipes

A little bit of sweet, a little bit of salty and all-around tasty. There’s no snack that quite compares to trail mix, especially when it’s homemade. The best part about the nutritious treat is that it’s so easy to make, and the ingredients can be tailored to fit your tastes and nutritional needs. Plus, you don't need to be hitting the trails or heading off to summer camp to enjoy this delicious snack!

In honor of National Trail Mix day on Aug. 31, we have compiled six of our favorite trail mix (and trail mix-inspired) recipes that make for a delicious and filling treat any time of the day.

  • Honey Nut Party Mix

Even though we originally made this recipe for our Honeybee Bridal Shower, this Honey Nut Party Mix recipe is perfect for any time of the year. It includes Chex® cereal and Honeycomb® cereal, with pretzels, peanuts baked with sweet honey and brown sugar. Although it includes 2/3 cups of butter, the recipe makes 12 whole cups of mix – perfect for pleasing a crowd!

  • Spooky Trail Mix

With Halloween right around the corner, we love getting into the spooky spirit with this Spooky Trail Mix recipe on See Vanessa Craft. This delicious variation includes seasonal candy corn, marshmallows and caramel corn – all of the best treats of fall! You can mix this up for a Halloween party, or even portion out in little baggies to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.
