Top 20 Sleepover Party Activities

The lights may have gone out, but that means the party is just getting started! Keep your all-night bash going on and on with our top 20 sleepover party activities!

What’s more fun than a sleepover party? For a kid, it’s the ultimate – friends, food and fun all night long. The average slumber party lasts far longer than most other kinds of parties (even if the kids actually sleep after lights out), so it’s up to the host to be ready with plenty of fun activities, from fun food to crafts to games.

I've rounded up 20 of the most fun-filled sleepover party ideas I could find. They're guaranteed to ensure entertainment all night long, but will also keep things pretty easy on the party host.

  • The primary sleepover party activity is to enjoy each other’s company – not Facebook and texting. Put a basket near the door to hold every guest’s phone for the duration of the party, allowing calls to and from parents only.

  • Sleeping on the floor is fun – sleeping outdoors in awesome teepees you make yourselves is even better! Gwynne Wasson has step-by-step instructions for the ultimate warm weather sleepover party setup.

  • Keep the Boogeyman away with these cute and comforting Boogeyman Cupcakes , topped with shredded coconut and chocolate drops.

  • Looking for a unique, party-pleasing food craft? Have each guest create her own Oreo-peanut butter mini pie – a sweet treat that’s cute as pie!

  • Guests can sleep with these soft no-sew pillows they make themselves at the party, and take them home to enjoy for long after. With no sewing required, they’re simple enough for kids to make.

  • A favorite movie is a must at any sleepover – and nothing goes better with a fun flick than some yummy, simple-to-make homemade popcorn !

  • Learning to tie-dye is a great craft for sleepovers – it’s easier than you might think! Create the shirts early on, so you can wash and dry them (see Chris’s instructions) for wearing home the next day.

  • Fun and funky pipe cleaner rings are the perfect affordable sleepover activity. With just one material, you can get enough for each guest to make two – one to keep, and one to trade!
