Trending Now: Post-Wedding Trash the Dress Photo Shoots

Finding the perfect wedding gown is one of the most exciting moments in a woman's lifetime. After trying on countless dresses, modeling them for friends and family and buying the gown of her dreams, a bride can't wait to feel like a real-life princess on her wedding day.

Fast forward a few months or years later when the beloved dress of her dreams is splattered in finger paint, ripped to shreds or caked in mud. No, it's not a weird role-playing accident; some women decide to intentionally ruin their wedding gowns. Like, on purpose. And take pictures of it. The trend, which has gained popularity over the last few years, is called Trash the Dress.

While some brides might want to keep their dresses for sentimental value, others see no use for their gowns post-wedding. Instead of locking it away in a box that will never be opened, these women are finding another way to reuse their dresses — a fun photo shoot!

As more and more brides sign up for it, the ways in which these dresses are trashed range from the cute and creative, to the downright bizarre. Whether you're going for a photo shoot that's stunning or shocking (or maybe a mixture of both), there's no denying that these scenarios make for amazing photographs.

Take a look at some of the most outrgeous trash the dress ideas we've seen, and let us know: Would you do a trash the dress photo shoot after your wedding day? Do you think it's a creative idea, or are you completely apalled?

  • All Wine, No Whine

Getting wine on your wedding gown is a bride's worst nightmare. But this bride seems to be having a blast! These photos were taken at Honora Winery, a Vermont winery where the couple had tied the knot just months prior. The photo shoot was shot by JAGStudios, and made to look like a horrible accident (but their big smiles confirm that they are having a good time).

  • Chocolate Fon-Do

Taking photos of you "accidentally" spilling some chocolate fondue on your dress is a definite do, especially if you own a bakery like this bride does! This bride was featured on the show Jerseylicious, and the photos were taken by the talented Josh Lynn while tow little girls watch on in faux-horror.

  • Sweet Sundaes

Ice cream sundaes are always a treat, but this couple took it one step further. The adorable photoshoot features the newlyweds enjoying a delicious dessert in an ice cream parlor, and then moving to an outdoor spot for a chocolate-filled food fight! The photos, featured on OMG I'm Getting Married, actually turned out sweeter than their sundaes.

  • Sun & Surf

Rolling around in the sand and water with your husband can be romantic, even when you're wearing a wedding dress. This photo shoot from Giovanni Romeo Photography surely ruined the dress, but in the most elegant way possible.

  • Under the Sea

Submerging your wedding gown in water doesn't seem like a good idea, but for this photo shoot featured on Style Me Pretty, it makes for some gorgeous pics. The bride and groom kiss happily under water for their trash the dress shoot. But be careful with water photos! The dress can become extremely heavy, so make sure you are in standing water only and there aren't any currents.

  • Not Afraid of a Little Dirt

Getting down and dirty on ATVs is fun enough in plain clothes. But this bride looks like she's having even more fun riding around in her wedding gown! The muddy photo shoot, featured on Studio 1250, is a great idea for any outdoorsy woman looking for one last fun photo shoot.

  • Family Fingerpainting

The trash the dress fun can continue years after your nuptials. These stunning images taken by En Pointe Photography show a happy family enjoying a day on the beach... even when the kiddos get into some finger paint and use mom's dress as their canvas!

  • The Color Run

Why not kill two birds with one stone like Stephanie L. did? This brave bride shared her photo with the Ellen Degeneres Show in which she participated in the Color Run in her wedding gown! Talk about dedication.
