Ultimate Tailgating Party Decor

Gear up for your next big tailgate with these ideas for tailgating decor. Whether you're hosting the tailgate outside the game or at home, show your team spirit with these festive decorations!

A tailgating party is the perfect opportunity to gather friends together for some delicious food, drinks and of course, the big game. Whether you’re celebrating outside with friends and family before the game, or at home in your living room, it’s easy to get your guests excited with the right decorations, classic tailgating treats and a lot of team spirit. Get everyone excited for some football this fall by hosting the tailgating party of the season with this gallery of décor ideas.

  • Show Your Pride

Hang a festive banner on the wall to instantly turn the area into a football fan’s haven. Decorate the sides of the banner with paper tassels based on your favorite team’s colors to bring some spirit to the party. Tie the theme together by choosing other decorations that match the banner, like this party featured on Piggy Bank Parties.

  • Gooooooaaaaal

Set a decorative goal post at each end of the snack table and cover the surface with synthetic turf to turn the table into a field of its own. Use goal posts like these featured on the Etsy store Hello My Sweet. Fill the field with food and drinks and use it as your main serving space, or clear the table and toss a plush football back and forth with fellow football fans.

  • Themed Drink Coasters

Hand out drink coasters featuring classic football sayings or icons for an extra special touch, like these from Design Sponge. (Plus side: they'll protect your surfaces from water rings). Decorate a stack of blank coasters using paint, markers or ink, or attach laminated printed images to the top of them. As an alternative, add synthetic turf to the coasters to complement your football field table!

  • Tag, You're It

Provide your guests with football themed drink tags that they can personalize with their name to avoid mixing up beverages, like these tags featured on Pizzazzerie. This is a simple yet effective extra touch that will help avoid confusion when your guests reach for their drinks during the game!

  • Play Around with Your Decorations

Make traditional tailgating games part of the décor! Create your own Cornhole game with plywood and create your own beanbags using fabric scraps and a filler of your choice, or buying beanbags from a local toystore. Customize the board with your favorite team’s colors and decorate the beanbags to match. Cornhole is a fun way to keep your guests entertained before the action starts and during downtime! (You can also buy a set like this from Walmart.)

  • Festive Serving Tray

Serve all of your yummy treats on a themed serving tray in the shape of a football, or that dons the logo of your favorite team. Not only will it get you and your pals in the spirit of cheering on your team to victory, it will make hanging out snacks and cleaning up a breeze. Present chips for Crockpot Cream Cheese and Artichoke Dip on a festive tray, like this wooden football cutting board and tray featured on Rue La La.
