3D Paper Christmas Tree Decorations

Once you discover the simplicity of dye cut papers, your holiday paper crafting possibilities are endless!

I adore 3 dimension craft projects - they offer depth where standard flat crafts cannot and can be used in nearly every decorating theme.

These Christmas tree decorations were used to adorn my holiday mantle, table settings and decorate our family Christmas tree.  And as there is still time for me to make more, I will be using them instead of bows to add a natural element to my holiday gift-wrapping this year.

If you’re not a confident crafter, this is a great starter project. You only need a few basic supplies and the project itself is very straightforward and simple once you attempt it. Even better is how affordable these 3D paper Christmas trees are! You’ll be surprised how much bang you get for your buck when crafting them.

  • 4 different scrapbooking sheets cut with a dye-cut tree shape
  • Stapler
  • Antique finish Mod Podge
  • Paper blade or Scissors (optional)
  • Sponge applicator
  • Ribbon (optional)

(Optional) Step 1: If you are not using dye-cut shapes, trace out your tree shape and cut 4 matching tree shapes from your selected scrap booking paper.

Step 2: Using your sponge applicator, apply a coat of antique finish Mod Podge to the top side of the tree shaped paper. Once dry, apply another coat to the underside of each tree and then allow to dry completely.

Step 3: Stack the trees, taking care that each paper is stacked neatly atop the next and then staple the tree stack down the center.

(Optional) Step 4: If you are hanging the tree, thread a ribbon through the top staple to create a loop.

Step 5: Gently fold each portion of the tree away from the center until you have a full 3 dimensional tree shape to create your completed the tree.
