5 Easy Ways to Celebrate a Promotion

Celebrating everyday occasions can be just as fun as indulging in the big ones. While no one hesitates to send a card, throw a dinner party or bake a cake for an engagement, a pregnancy, or a birthday, it’s the little, more common occurrences like job promotions that tend to get overlooked.

Celebrating personal success from good grades to weight-loss to athletic achievements is important as it promotes positivity and success in your life on a daily basis.

Career success is something we so often take for granted, but in this day in age any kind of promotion or new position is something worth celebrating.

Here are a few things you might consider doing for yourself next time you find yourself climbing up the corporate ladder or land yourself a new job.

Go Out for Drinks

Get a group of your close friends together and grab a table at a local lounge or bar. Cheers-ing to your own health and wealth will not only feel amazing, but it will inspire those around you.

When choosing your company, think about those who helped you to get where you are today: did your sister help you to put together your resumé? Did your best friend push you to apply for the position? Our friends and family take our success to heart, after all, no one goes out of their way to be surrounded by unsuccessful people. Buying a round of cocktails or appetizers is a great way to say thanks for their support and let them know how much you appreciate them.

Treat Yourself to Something Special

Sounds obvious right? You’d be surprised how many people feel guilty about rewarding themselves for their successes. A manicure, new gadget, or fancy meal are all great ways to celebrate your achievements without going overboard. By letting ourselves indulge a little we are in a sense offering positive reinforcement and have something additional to look forward to with every leap and bound we make.

Share it With the World

So often we use social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook to complain about things like the weather, crowded commutes, messy roommates—the list goes on. It’s nice to share our success with out friends and followers as well. These websites allow you to virtually shout it from the rooftop, something that feels great and makes those around you feel good too. You’ve earned your bragging rights through your success, so why not share it with the world?

Throw a Party

This is pretty much our answer to everything, but when it comes to career success, we insist. Big promotions deserve big parties and even small pay bumps should be celebrated in style.

Start a Success Journal

A success journal doesn’t have to be as stuffy as it sounds. Recording how you felt and what you did at the most exciting points in your life is a great way to motivate yourself at less successful or enjoyable points in your life. Taking a look back at such moments of success can help you detect patterns so that you might replicate such success, or just boost your confidence when a little inner pep talk is needed.
